Hey there,

I don't think my dog is anorexic, but, she does on occasion vomit after eating. At first I thought it might be the tap water (chemicals in the water) so I changed her to bottled for a while, no problems. A friend suggested I just fill a jug with tap water and let it sit for a day or so before giving it to her so the chemicals would eveporate (or something) did that and thing where great. No vomiting after eating for a good couple of months.

then she did it again. And hadn't done it for another couple of months. She did it today and sometime two weeks ago or so.

First off its usually with in 5 minutes after she eats. I dont' think its happened after that. So it usually fairly close after she eats. I give her solid dog food. I almost think that perhaps she eats to fast? is that even possible? Also, when she throws up the pieces of dog food are usually still in tact (look the same as when they went in). Do dogs usually (sometimes) basically swallow there food? or do they usually chew it all up and for some reason she doesn't?! I really don't think the issue is with the water, I think it has something to do with her eating habits.

so to sum it up, this doens't happen everyday. It goes a month or two with out happening. Then it might happen once and not again for another month or two. Then it might happen once or twice....and nothing for months.

Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

No its not one of the recalled foods. But thanks for asking. Also this had started happening way before the whole recall issue.

Also I might add that I feed her twice a day. once in the morning and once aruond supper time. 2 cups each time (so a total of four cups a day)

Been doing a little reading and read that It could be that the dog has eyes bigger then the stomach. Bit off more then they can chew so they regurgitate the rest and to help solve that possibly feed her less, but more frequently (more smaller meals)

It could gastro intestinal sensativity. Have you take them to the vet yet for a check up?

Maye need to be put onto either a hypoallergentic diet, or a sensative stomach/gastro diet.

No, I haven't been to the vet for a check up since last october or so.

I didn't think (and I could be wrong) it was to serious since it happens bascially once every 60-90 days or so. Just thought I'd look to see if its a common problem or not first.

Patty, Charlie did the same thing and I thought nothing of it. Just occasionally, he would vomit intact food a few minutes after eating. I too thought he was just eating too fast. I mentioned it to the vet recently and she said that is NOT normal. Turns out his problem was intestinal parasites, of which there had been no evidence, other than one bout of diarrhea that only lasted one day. I'd get a fecal exam done.
