120 pounds!?!?!?!?!?!

And I thought our 35 pound pug that's boarding with us was bad (and it is). But . . . . wow. Sad :(

I saw this dog on the news this morning. It is shockingly obese, and was dragging its rear, apparently unable to stand. It looked like a huge black and white egg with a little head.

it couldn't walk, that's how obese this dog was. I always find myself asking how or why someone would do this. It never ceases to amaze me how people can rationalize anything. Even the guy they interviewed that said he tried to help wed night (he said Fri night, his mistake) but the dog bit him said, the woman was going out there every few hours to check on her dog. so she wasn't "really" neglected. WTF

How about the fact that the dog has been abused for years to the point she's the weight of 3 border collies and frozen to a freakin sidewalk???????

I just don't understand what people are thinking when they feed their dogs into massive obesity. Also if it is that cold and you can't get your dog in--maybe it is time to get someone to help you, not just leave it outside.

According to this article from the WISN ABC affliliate http://www.wisn.com/news/18214694/detail.html
she asked several neighbors to help, beyond the one guy who claimed to have been bitten. None were able to free the dog.

But you would think it would have occured to at least one of those people to try using warm water to melt the ice ... like the shelter workers did. Article says there's tufts of the dog's fur still stuck to the sidewalk ... the neighbors and his idiot owner must have been yanking ... trying to pry him off the sidewalk!! :yikes: No wonder he bit that one guy!!

They live in freakin' Sheboygen fergawdsakes!!! Not one of those morons thought to try melting the ice to get the dog free?!?
And yes, it's also sickening that she allowed that poor dog to get morbidly obese ... although in this case at least it seems the fat insulation prevented him from freezing to death.

And she was wearing a border collie shirt. If she really cared about her extremely active breed she wouldn't have allowed her dog to become morbidly obese!! Poor thing!

She does not seem to be the owner...Looks like one of the volunteers from the rescue group.

yeah, that was a woman that helped save the dog, I haven't seen any pics or video of the actual owner, nor do I care to. I just hope she never gets to own another animal again without supervision and help.

Poor dog. IMO obesity is abuse plain and simple. I sure hope she doesnt get this dog back. if you over feed a dog to a point it can not walk due to the fat and 3X its normal size, well you are abusive.

The "extra fifty pounds" the dog was carrying? Try extra 80!

Holy crap.
Considering she's about 3 times the size of most border collies I see.... Insane. It reminds of that crazy lady with the fat rottweiler on the fat pets show.
