Yuck.
We had a client who brought her 32 lb cat in and complained about how animal control fined her $250 and mandated she bring the cat in to us for a diet plan and check-up. And I'm not talking about a Main Coon or any other larger breed (which still doesn't weigh that much!). This cat should've been around 9 lbs......tops! And honestly it really should've been in the 7-8 lb range. The cat could not walk on it's own. It could barely stand up. It's abdomen dragged the floor. It could not groom itself other than just the 2 front paws and about 1/4 of the way up the front legs. It could not get into a litter box if it tried. The poor thing was horrid and miserable.
And the woman did nothing but bitch & complain about how AC needs to go after neglect & cruelty and those who starve their cats and not people like her who love their animals. I wanted to slap her.
What happened to the cat? In the end the cat was seized and euthanized by AC after the woman put it in the front yard to "enjoy the sunshine" as she claimed it liked to do as it was attacked by another cat and severely injured. And I believe she was fined another $250.
