Would people be more hurt if he had been abused rather than just lacked self confidence?

Can you imagine how LOW he must have been?

I somehow doubt it was JUST over what is reported.

I don't.

I can't even imagine what it must feel like to want to kill myself. How you must feel thinking you are better off dead than alive.

People say they are selfish, but if they care so little about their own life, they are not thinking rationally enough to realise who they will hurt.

My uncle killed himself. I was only young.... I know a young lad who killed himself. He was more a friend of a friend, but I had spoken to him, laughed with him, played pool with him - I knew him. I think he hung himself.

I didn't think either of those people were losers. They needed people to help them, not ridicule them. They are sorely missed. Especially the lad. Hundreds turned out for his funeral. Noone thought he was pathetic. People were pissed off AT him, but more so because they thought they could have helped. It was a sad time.

I am not saying the people are losers in life....the act of taking ones own life is pathetic IMO.....thus making them a loser.....I'd say the same thing about one of my family members...or friends if they killed themself becasue they thought their "unit" was to small......give me a break...feel sorry for em if you want....but don't look down on me becasue I don't....

I can't imagine what someone must feel like to take their own lives. BUT

What I found funny in the article was the line about taking him to a Dr. I don't know if anyone's seen Eddie Murphy "delerious" in here, maybe i'm too old, but he does a part on Black White and Asian "parts" and that comment in the story does nothing to dispell the stereotype.

Instead of saying average size, they say (about a guy that killed himself cause it was too small) average size for an Asian man and prescribed mulit vitamins.

Maybe i'm a little off, but I though that was funny.

whats with everyone jumping off buildings?? we had 2 suicides in my school withing like a month...BOTH jumped off buildings (one was like a block from me)

my friends friend WITNESSED one as she was walking to class....she was VERY tramautized...so not only did that guy help tear his family and friends apart...but this poor girl too who didnt even know him....

Hmmm...well, I don't know. I am torn in this. Yes, I think in these days committing suicide to some seems like the easy way out.
But you don't know what is going on in someone's mind who is depressed.
I probably shouldn't talk about it...and it's kind of hard...but over the past 10 years, my grandfather changed. He never was the funny, charismatic man he was when I was a kid. He became concerned with everything, obsessed with certain things...could not sleep anymore, lost weight...wouldn't eat.
It all peaked in my grandfather trying to take his life. My poor grandmother found him in time...he spend a long time in a mental institution, went through a long therapy...and now I see the man I knew again.
He was depressed...it was some sort of a post traumatic stress disorder from WWII. He suppressed it all his life.
I would not say he didn't care about my grandmother...my parents or me. He was so desperate, he did not see a way out of it. "Normal functioning" people can't understand what's going on in a mind like that.

And the guy in this article...well, you can only know what you read. And to give the story the hang up of a teen killing himself because he thinks his penis is too small will give the author more clicks than "another depressed teen commits suicide".
To me, he seemed depressed...he told people he felt low and worthless. If that would have been my kid, I would have brought him to therapy. Not see a doctor and let him take multivitamins. When people are depressed, some get obsessed with money...others can't leave their home....with him it was his penis...his problem goes deeper than that and the ONLY pathetic thing in this story is that he wasn't helped.

I do agree to some sort...it is in some way a selfish act. And I was mad, screaming mad at my grandpa for doing this until looking deeper into it and trying to understand. Now, I do not feel sympathy for people who want to get in the news. I am angry at people that try to take other life's with them. Back in Germany, some guy jumped from a warehouse in the inner city...He killed a pregnant woman. THAT is selfish.

i imagine there was more to his depression then just the obvious. Could be anything, i don't think anyone's suicide is boohoo sad, it is always a tragedy. If what i am reading is true and i imagine the source is correct, because of pcb contimantion, estrogen mimicing pollutants, all the male genitals in all the species will sooner or later be affected along with a lot of other problems that combine. At the top of the food chain, we will be the in line for the greatest absorbtion. food for thought.

Oh good god. Anyone who would commit suicide is pathetic in my books.

This is why:

1 week before christmas I was taking a hospital secirity shifr for a friend of mine. We heard on the over head pager for "Code team to Resus 1 and 2." and then 30seconds later "Pediatric Dr. to resus 1 and 2".
EMS brought in two kids ages 3 and 4 one WEEK before christmas. They had been in a house fire and died because of the CO2. They looked like they were sleeping. The parents weren't home at the time but a friend of the family was and got out OK, with her son.

A short while later we had a Pt. come in saying she wanted to commit suscide. We all felt like taking her into the code room were the bodies of those kids were and shoving her face in them She think's she has it so bad, well these parents just lost BOTH their kids a WEEK before CHRISTMAS.

People who kill themselves because their BF or GF broke up with them or their penis is to small are pathetic. I have NO sympathy for them.

Look at all the cancer pt's who are clinging to life and would give ANYTHING for just one more day and then there are people who throw themselves of buildings because their BF/GF broke up with them.
