Wait. Where's your original $5000 then?

SOMEONE in shipping committed fraud by removing the sensor. You hold the cards. Don't let them screw you, which is what they're doing.

Call the card company, contact PayPal and GET YOUR MONEY BACK.
The seller is eating the excess cost. He's sending us a new TV in exchange for what the shipping company is settling for. I agree someone is still getting screwed, but at least it isn't us anymore.

I am glad you are getting it replaced. I have to tell you though that I would have an eyebrow raised at that seller if he is complacently eating the cost.

Okay. It's late and I'm fried, so maybe I'm not thinking clearly, but . . . the seller keeps your original $5,000 AND the shipping company's reimbursement. And you're getting ONE television out of it.

So . . . You're paying for one TV, the shipping company is paying for the second, and you can bet that both of those prices are well over cost. You can also bet the shipping company is eating the freight on both. So the seller is making out quite well on this.

The seller is also out 2 TVs, for the price of less than 2 TV's (or at least less than he can sell it for). I'm not sure what's going to happen to the broken one. The shipping company has the right to claim it for salvage if they want to. The seller did nothing wrong in shipping the first TV. The damage was entirely the shipping company's fault. So we are paying for one TV, and getting one TV.

If the original TV hadn't been broken by the shipping company, we would have still been paying for one TV and getting one TV. So as far as I'm concerned it's a wash.
