my guess is both dogs were involved. There was a study done about infant swings triggering attacks with adult dogs...so I don't doubt the child was attacked. Might've started out with the pup nipping at the feet of the child and pulling on them...but from there? anything could have happened...and I'd guess both dogs were involved.

I have been nipped by a small pup and bled...their teeth and very sharp...it's not so much that they have power as that they snag...like cat's claws...when you pull away.

I agree that it was most probably both dogs involved.

If it was something other than the dogs, the truth WILL come out because it's very easy to link the cause of death to that caused by a dog attack. If the child was strangled to death and then the dogs just chewed on the body, that is also easy to find out. Forensic medicine is amazing these days.

While I do think that a 6-wk-old pup would have a hard time pulling a baby from a swing, I don't doubt a Pug could. And most of my friends just invest in those travel swings that sit low on the ground so that's what kind of swing it could've been.

As for euthanizing the pup, I don't think that should've been done at this point b/c I'm more apt to believe the other dog was the true culprit. And yes, if the Pug did it then it should be destroyed. NONE of my dogs have ever even given a dirty or suspicious look towards my baby swing when Cole or Carson has been in it. There are too many good dogs out there to try and adopt out others that killed a baby.

And what a horrible, tragic case. I can't even imagine what that poor baby went through. And where in hell did those parents really go that they could not hear a 2-month-old screaming for his life.....literally! I can promise you they weren't in that house like they claim and if they were, they would've had to have been so heavily under the influence of drugs and alcohol that they don't need children.

Again, the true moral of the story is that children are not disposable creatures that you can just throw in a corner and leave them alone. And if you must leave your child unattended for a minute or so, then by all means put the dogs up! Cole is 2-yrs-old and still has not been left alone in a room with any of the dogs.........so it's not that hard to do. Extra effort? Yes. Hard? No.

The puppy looked so tiny, I can't imagine how it would have killed a baby. I mean, it could reach the baby's legs maybe . . . but how would it reach the rest of the baby?

There's all kind of wierd with this story . . . unattended? In a child swing? At that age? Blaming the tiny puppy and not the adult dog? What the heck? Euthanizing the puppy almost immediately? Where's the pug? What were the parents and grandmother doing? Although I can see the pug biting the baby, even killing it, I'm not sure I can see it getting it out of the child swing without a huge ammount of noise, if at all.

Yeah, there's all kinds of wacko going on here.

And actually, Chis can be pretty brutal! o.0 LOL. Same with Dachshunds, they just dont have horrible bites like some of the other breeds that have less of a tendancy to be aggresive..

I've met alot of dog aggressive chis... not really any ppl aggressive ones... but they're so small that if you have a med sized dog... it can't really do that much damage... just be crabby. lol

Funny how the "most aggressive" dog breeds just happen to be some of the most common. I wonder if they are going off of number of reported bites.

Somebody had better get their weeks in puppies correct, a six week old if with the litter and momma. He mentally would have no capacity to know even to maul or even eat raw meat if given first time.

The puppy hasn't been euthanized. He's being held at a shelter. The officer who carried him out was rubbing his ears.

I have a 12 week old Yorkie/Shitzu mix who can bring blood and does. She has needle sharp teeth. She's only playing but we find ourselves with bandaids all over our arms and hands. I can only imagine what a lab puppy could do while playfully nipping an 8-WEEK old baby. I've got tough 55-year old skin. Just think of the tender new skin of a tiny baby. So, yeah, I can see where the baby died from shock and/or blood loss.

What I can't see is where in the H%ll the adults were in this situation. That baby had to have screamed his little lungs out before he succumbed. Were they just letting him "cry it out"? Pitiful...

The at the request of the police . . .which sounds very strange considering that in the video that puppy was about as aggressive as a limp dishrag . . .
