Goldiefur, it is really hard to find a breeder that everyone agrees is reputable! In general though, the important factors are that the breeding dogs are well cared for, loved, socialized and exercised (preferably NOT kenneled) and health tested. It's also important that puppies are sold after 8 weeks and the breeder has a 2+ year health guarantee on their puppies, as well as a contract on their puppies to ensure they don't end up a shelter statistic.
The rest is showing vs working vs pet politics. To me if you're getting a pet dog, the most important thing is that your dog is healthy, socialized and comes from stable, friendly parents. A true BYB does not care about health tests, correct temperaments or where there puppies go other than to anyone who pays for them. For me... I want to work and show my puppy, so if I'm not buying from a breeder whose dogs are show champions and/or working titled, I'm adopting from a shelter. But it's completely understandable that some people just want a stable pet puppy whose parents they know are healthy and friendly! I think Blaze's breeder looks good. My former boss who is in the dog industry and knows better bought both of her Huskies from straight up BYBs with ads in the newspaper, and they turned out to be crazy and aggressive.
