My point is, that breed did not fit the Reagans at all. "Lucky" ended up being cared for by someone else..

You shouldn't assume they won't pick their dog carefully or that the decision to get a puppy was made just like that

agreed so I hope they will do just that and make a good example of pet ownership.. ( just as anyone should.)

I am just saying. He was not talking about a pet before and now he is??? Thats no different than anyone else that says " oh lets get a dog" .. I am sorry but having worked alot with fosters etc in the past, a sudden decission to get a pet is usually not a good idea.. ( anyone remember Nancy Reagan being dragged across the White house lawn by her Bouvier? )
Well because those of us living in this area we are use to it... I mean clinton had a cat ( socks), Reagan had a bouv then cavalier, Bush had scotties... I mean we need entertainment- we want pets.. And I would never trust a person that did not have a pet.. :D

you said you wanted entertainment ?

I bet it's some sort of Crap-a-poo or Shiznit-a-Poo or something along those lines. No offense, but that's a man I envision with some littly frilly dog at the end of a leash. (& no I'm not being mean, it's just what I see)

Now, if he wants to be a man and represent this country, then he'll go with an American Pit Bull Terrier. Athletic, loyal, fun-loving, amazing with kids, strong, courageous, short fur that sheds little...........it's time to bring the APBT back to it's former glory as America's dog! :D

Oooooo........I think they should get a goat. Or a mini-horse to live in the White House. That would be even more entertaining!

I really don't care what kind of dog he gets.....it's a personal decision. Next we'll all be deciding on the kind of underwear he's going to wear (better not be briefs) or toilet paper he uses (well the tp is his decision but it NEEDS to be roll side up).

Considering we don't know what Obama has been thinking, or talking to his family about...Who can say he just decided last night after he won about this? I am sure they have been discussing it for many months now, he just hasn't spent all his time talking about it to the media.

Hopefully it is a rescue dog! :)

Going to the White house so I promise my children a puppy..-So what happens to the dog 4-8 years from now?
It gets sacrificed. What do you think is going to happen to it? It'll have a home till it dies, just like my dog does.

I am just saying. He was not talking about a pet before and now he is???
It wasn't sudden, it has been talked about for AT LEAST a month, and I am sure I have heard things about it beforehand.
