I didn't look at the link yet, but I read on a Lab board that he wants something hypoallergenic/non-shedding. Who wants to bet he falls for the Labradoodle is non-shedding line?

I am hoping for a rescued greyhound. His children are old enough if they know how to respect a dog. Its a rescue but also uh wouldn't the dog look great on the couches in the White House? :D

yeah the allergy issue might limit things quite a bit. Maybe a Westie? His kids are old enough I think for a Terrier...aren't most a bit less hard on allergies?

They keep it! a lot of people get a dog as a mark of a good thing happening... that doesn't mean they get rid of it. It's just that they told themselves, this is my goal, once I reach it I can have a dog.

Werent you just complaining the other day about how they DIDNT have a pet and how it would be soooo much better if they had a pet ???

Obama doesnt even have a pet.. I mean jeeeeeeez.. We are use to having a pet in the White House.. ( even if its sheep in the front lawn..) On the other hand with all the pets McCain has, they are going to need a bigger yard ... We wont have a single pet in the White House- we will have a whole troop of pets...

I am just saying. He was not talking about a pet before and now he is??? Thats no different than anyone else that says " oh lets get a dog" .. I am sorry but having worked alot with fosters etc in the past, a sudden decission to get a pet is usually not a good idea.. ( anyone remember Nancy Reagan being dragged across the White house lawn by her Bouvier? )

Who said it was sudden? This may have been in the works for the whole campaign--and if they've been talking about it for years, it's hardly sudden.

 I fail to see how those two sentences have anything to do with each other?

that's the logic that gives bully breeds bad names.
