You are practically killing dogs in the pound! Do you sleep well at night?

I always see a lot of mixed breed MUTTS for SALE on craigslist...they're just plain mutts whether it says they are "bugs" or "goldendoodles" or pappostions" or whatever they call those dogs these days. It is pathetic. People selling "bugs", WTH? THEY ARE MUTTS! WHEN YOU SAY YOU ARE SELLING A $600 BUG YOU ARE SELLING A BEAGLE MIXED WITH PUG YOU COULD FIND EASILY AT THE SHELTER OR ON PETFINDER! http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=7596248oo LOOK A GOLDEN RETRIEVER/POODLE SO CALLED GOLDENDOODLE YOU COULD PAY $600 FOR FROM A PERSON BREEDING TWO DIFFERENT BREEDS TOGETHER AS A BACKYARD BREEDER. AND THIS DOG ONLY HAS A TINY ADOPTION FEE! YOU COULD SAVE A DOG INSTEAD OF INCOURAGING PEOPLE TO KEEP BREEDING MORE DOGS TO END UP IN THE POUND! People, please, break the cycle of unwanted mutt dogs! If you pay someone on craigslist or a so called breeder website $600 for a "bug" (you know a beagle and pug mix.... woops looks like some idiot was too stupid to get their dogs neutered so now we can all pretend it is really a planned litter!!) then they in turn keep producing these MUTTS and selling them to poor saps like some of you people on craigslist. I am not saying it is a bad dog, but if you want a mutt do yourself a favor and get one at YOUR LOCAL SHELTER OR PETFINDER. That MUTT will have its shots and everything, and for a lot cheaper!

I see tons of "bugs & goldendoodles" at shelters and dont see people coming and adopting them, but you go and pay $600 for one from a backyard breeder! Think about it! You are paying $600 for a mutt when you could be saving a pup from the shelter for much less! BE RESPONSIBLE!!! NEUTER YOUR ANIMALS SO YOU DON'T HAVE ANY MORE MISTAKE LITTERS. WE CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP DOING THIS TO PETS. WE CAN'T FIND HOMES FOR ALL OF THEM!!!!! WHEN YOU MAKE THESE MUTTS YOU ARE STEALING A HOME FROM SHELTER ANIMALS JUST MOMENTS FROM THEIR DEATH. It is time to stop pretending you "like" animals. If you really liked animals you wouldn't breed them, there are already too many of them!!! You are paying $600 for a mutt when you could be saving a pup from death at the pound! You pretend you love animals when you are practicly killing "bugs" at the shelter and encouraging backyard "breeders" to make more to end up at the pound! all you "breeders" breeding two different breeds of dogs all you care about is MONEY. you could care less about the animal, you are just out for a buck.
To the people that do breed these dogs, how does it make you feel that people are buying your designer mutts while millions of animals of the same breeds are being euthanized yearly at the pound? Do you sleep well? Does it sit heavy on your conscious? It should.

I agree with what you're saying, but I also don't think it will ever stop. I think maybe what's more important is to educate people thinking of buying a puppy about the risks that come along with buying from byb's and helping educate them on how much work that "cute puppy" really is and will be.

I think the designer puppy trend is here to stay, but at least if pet owners are being responsible and not dumping these pups when they grow out of the cuteness stage, less will end up in shelters.

It IS posted on craigslist.

I sleep very well at night and guilt free as well.
Excuse me? You seem careless! You sleep well when there are dogs being killed in the pound and people are buying $600 mixed breeds instead of stopping the death of the same breeds in the pound? Did you even READ MY MESSAGE?

Maybe you should be banned like it says under your username. You dont care about dogs at all.
My god.
Ill ask Chaz as well as the other Mods about whether I should be banned or not.

(You might wanna look into how I got my dogs and where they where going to wind up without me.)

It does upset me that dogs die constantly in shelters, but I'd say that about 80% or more of people who purchase theirdogs (purebred or designer crosses) from BYBs, petstores or Puppymills are just uneducated and don't know otherwise. The same goes for a lot of the breeders, I think. Yes, some are in it for money but others just want a pup from their already existing dog and aren't aware of the overpopulation problem.

And by the way, I think your comment to blue was uncalled for. If blue didn't like dogs, they wouldn't have any. It was just a comment with nothing horrible meant by it. Why should we feel guilty when we aren't causing the problem? All blue said was "I sleep well at night & guilt free", as do I. I don't feel guilty as I am not the one contributing to the problem. Does that mean that I, blue, and many other people don't care at all about dogs? No.

Perhaps you need to take a step back... no, make that two. Take a deep breath, come on now, do it with me *large intake of breath* ok, good... now, *exhale*.

Now, take a step off of that mighty pedestal and think before you criticize a chaz member ( a mod at that).

I agree very much with what you said in your rant here, but, you need to aim your shotguns elsewhere, WE aren't breeding these "mutts."

We're just adopting them and giving them forever homes. :D (yes, look down at my signature, my two "mutts" are rescues).

ETA: Sometimes I don't sleep well at night because there are so many dogs out there that need homes, but I am only one person and I can only have so many dogs. So, I donate and am making myself visit my local shelter at least once/week so that the dogs and cats receive just a little bit of love.

Yeah, I think he sleeps well at night because he does NOT do the things you were writing about.

Thank you Brattina, Krisykris, Toller, and Buddy.

neapolitanpitbull, Bluedawg was 6 weeks old and was destined for a shelter.

There where plenty of people interested in him but they needed time to get a place that they could have a dog, he didnt have that time. He came here instead of a shelter, it wasnt easy as he was only 6 weeks.

I got Verde on a Saturday, the following Monday she would have gone to a shelter. She had been dumped at a local store my neighbors took her in, tried to find her owners. Instead of a shelter she came here.

I didnt get them from a shelter, but Im not contributing to the problem.

Both pictures are from their first day here.

In fairness to the OP the comment does seem careless if taken as just that and people do not know how where Blue's dogs came from. All my dogs are rescue dogs, Ive never ever bred a dog but I actually do have some sleepless nights worrying about the dogs that are still out there suffering or waiting for homes. And the ones still running for their lives.

I'm sorry, but, now YOU need to take a deep breath and step down from your pedestal.

Done, yet?

Gooood.

Now, ranting to us really doesn't do anything because no regular, posting member of Chazhound breeds doodles, diddles, whatever you may wish to call them. A large majority of us actually rescue, so her rant and tantrum and then the verbal assault of a moderator was completely unnecessary.

See, what it comes down to is people make ASSumptions. They don't know any facts, they just take one event and run with it...they make spectacles out of themselves and claim to be doing good when they are making themselves out to be, well, for lack of a better word, hmmm, a little on the crazy side.

We all rant every now and then-sometimes it feels good. But, we should all work on taking those energies put into ranting by doing SOMETHING POSITIVE with them. Say, for example, volunteering at a local shelter, educating others in a peaceful, calm manner about these gag-me designer breeds. You see, actually DOING something is better than a verbal rant.. because we here at Chazhound have heard it all before and we see it quite often... so... lesson learned, right?

Let's move on now. :)
