I'm going to jump on the collar bandwagon and ask for some opinions before ordering Pig's new collar.

Originally I was thinking about getting her a 1.5" collar. I've tried a 1.5" fabric collar on her before and liked it, but it just won't work with leather. I love the look of thicker collars, but she's only 30lbs with a 13" neck and the buckle just looks ridiculous on her.

I keep waffling between so many designs it's just sad at this point. I love all of the steampunk collars from Ella's lead, unfortunately most of them would be too wide. So far I have the list narrowed down to these four, but 'the list' seems to change almost daily...I have collar commitment issues.
The Hypno - http://ellaslead.com/inc/sdetail/3632/7671
The New JoJo - http://pacocollars.com/products/the-new-jojo/
The Swirl - http://pacocollars.com/products/the-swirl/
The Veronica - http://pacocollars.com/products/the-veronica/

Color wise I think I prefer her in brown/brass, but I'm open to any suggestions. For those with dogs around Pig's size, what width do you usually go for when choosing a collar?

Just a few references:

1.25"

1.5" fabric slide

1.5" leather buckle

Personally? I think the 1.5" looks too thick on her (well, esp. on that last collar - it looks gigantic)... but I'm not one to like super huge collars, either, so personal preference. I think 1" would suit her more... maybe 1" with it being tapered down to 3/4" inch or something. I know some collars do that, with the tapered down look, and I really like that as you still get the width, but not the huge bulky buckle. The fabric 1.5" looks more fitting. But I still think if she were my dog, I wouldn't go larger than 1" (or the 1.25" in the first pic).

I think I like the Hypno and the Swirl the best.

Agree with JacksonsMom - I think 1" would look great on her (my guys have 12" necks and 1" is what I get for them).

I like the Swirl the best for her :)

I agree with Jackson's mom, I don't like the 1.5 on her. I put a 1.25 on my dog and he has a much longer neck. The 1.25 doesn't look too bad on her but I think a 1inch would be much more fitting.

As for designs I like them in this order...
The Swirl
The Veronica
The Hypno
The New Jojo

I like the 1.25 you have on her in the pic.

I don't think its the size around of the neck that goes with width of collar but the length of neck. Dash only has a 12 inch neck (around) but could easily pull off a 1.5 inch collar or larger as his neck is really long.

Bounce is 17ish pounds and this is 1.25 (and now on little Seren who is only just over ten pounds)

Dekka is 11.25 high but is also wearing a 1.25 collar.

I think the length of the neck (along with personal preference) is the biggest factor over size of dog.

I like the 1.25, and you could laways get one tapered to 1" at the buckle if the size of the buckle is an issue. Gavroche is larger and that's what I have him in. 1.25 all the way around is too much for him (and 1.5 is WAYYYY too much), but the 1" in the buckle is PERFECT.

My choice would be the JoJo or the Hypno. I also think she pulls off the 1.25" fine. :)

I would go with one of the Pacos since they'll last the lifetime of your dog and stay looking good.

My favorite is the Veronica- I plan on ordering that one as Rory's next Paco. The Swirl is another one I love as well :)

Personally, I would stay at 1" for a collar. Rory weighs 35lbs and has a 14" neck, and 1- 1.25" look perfect on him.

I think I'd go with brown and brass for her coloring.

I think the Jojo or the Swirl would look best on her design-wise. I think that really big conchos or double layer would get too overwhelming. 1" is definitely her size and 1.25" is nice, but definitely looks pretty big on her.

I like the swirl. The cockers wear 1.5 inch collars, tapered at the buckle. I think 1.25 would look good.

Any decent leather with care and conditioning will last the life of your dog. The longer Smudge wears is black and red, the nicer it gets which included daily swimming all summer.

Very true. I have a plain leather collar from my first JRT. Its good leather, even though it was only $15. Still looks fantastic. Its not who you buy it from, its the leather and how you look after it.

(No leather no matter how good will stay great if you abuse it and don't look after it)

I personally am not a fan of really wide collars. I think she can definitely pull of the 1.25", but I think a 1" might look better. That said, the widest I do for any of my dogs is only 1", so that's the look I am used to. Keira has a 15" neck and Dance's is 13" I think. And I'd definitely taper at the buckle to 3/4" on a dog her size, as buckles can be pretty heavy/bulky. Of those choices, I like the Jojo, Swirl, and Veronica. I also have to add that I think double leather (like the Veronica) looks extra sharp and somehow less bulky, surprisingly. The Hypno is nice too, but looks more masculine to me. But they are all nice and I think she would look great in any of them.

Thanks for all of the replies. I'm so used to having larger dogs who could pull off the thicker collars, but really looking at Pig in the 1.5"...well she just looks like a little kid trying on their parent's clothing.

I found a flying pig concho that I would really like to use, so I'm going to look into having a custom design done to incorporate it. If I don't end up doing that I'll probably go with the swirl with green rhinestones. I like that I can include a splash of Pig's usual color (green) without it being too overwhelming.

I'm usually a fan of the layered leather. It's what I have for Bear (the rainbow ruadh from the op). For some reason I like the look of the plain swirl better than the deluxe version though.

Meg is just a bit bigger than your dog (36 lbs or so), and has the original JoJo. I love the collar - pretty, very well made. But she never wears it because I think it is too think and heavy on her. Now granted, I prefer thinner collars, but at 1", I certainly wouldn't go any wider for her.

Here's a shot showing Meg in the collar - I had my leather guy trim the end after, as I clearly fail at measuring. (36lb, 18" tall, 14" neck)

I think it might be the buckle part that makes it look a little bulky on Meg. I know it makes a huge difference for both of my girls to taper the buckle to 3/4". Even though the rest of the collar is 1", somehow it looks less bulky/like a neck brace if the buckle is tapered. If I leave a collar all at a 1" width, I don't like it. That's why I got rid of Dance's original leather collar. It was just too much for her little neck. It was a nice collar, but she only wore it a couple times as I felt much the same way about it as you do about Meg's collar.
