Remind me why its bad to clean up puppy's accidents in front of him? I am really bad about this as trying to get him out while I clean is such a hassle half the time I just do it in front of him. However, his good ones in the yard I like him to see me carry his poo to the poo corner thinking I'm showing him where it should be. Is this bad too?

I purposely cleaned my guys accidents in front of them. If they weren't there I brought them to the scene of the crime and made them watch me clean it up so they knew it didn't belong there. Nothing more though, maybe a soft no. Positive reinforcement with house breaking!

OP, what you are describing is called "maid syndrome".

It seems to be more common in small toy dogs who see you clean up after them and so don't worry about soiling the house any more, since they have a "maid" to clean it up.

I've never heard that either, but it is funny.

I read that the mother does the same thing, that she'll eat the eliminations to show them that they don't belong there, once their older.

So are you supposed to leave it there?!?!? Yick! LOL

Lol I clean up Lucy's accidents in front of her...it would be too much work to keep her away, when she sees me with paper towels and carpet cleaner, she runs after me, and she's right there with this look of, "whatcha doing huh huh huh? Can I help??" :p

The "maid syndrome" scares me though lol. It wouldn't surprise me if Lucy thought of me as her "maid" and stopped caring whether she went inside or not lol!

I've never heard of maid syndrome, that's funny!
Tink is a toy type, and when she does it in the house she watches me clean it, I usually don't say anything to her, but i talk to myself in a "yuck" voice while cleaning...'eeww, this is gross, no peepeee in here!" kind of thing vs when she goes outside and I tell her how great it is to poop...:D but outside, I make sure i talk directly to her, she seems to 'get' my tones really well...

yay! It was a losing battle trying to keep him away so I'm glad to hear I can abbandon it. He is starting to do more and more outside so hopefully its no longer a question.
Thanks for the input!
