Yeah I heard about that :( I was in Pittsburgh yesterday and one of Justin's friends knew the 29 year old cop. It's really sad. I didn't know what precipitated the onslaught, however... that's ridiculous.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

And to think how underpaid most of these public safety personnel are, putting their lives on the line for less than most people make....
(i know OT)

SO very sad, from our family (fire and law enforcement) to theirs....Our prayers are with them.

Oh my god.... I just looked up the salary of a Pittsburgh PA after you said that, and it starts at $38k for the first year... and averages around $45k. That's just freaking ridiculous, considering these people put their LIVES on the line every single day!

I read about this in the NY Times this am. Officer Kelly was married with three daughters. He was off duty on his way home and stopped to help. Officer Sciullo was married and had two sons, I believe. Officer Mayhle was engaged to be married.

The gunman was wearing a bulletproof vest. There is more to this than it seems, I think. I believe the first two officers had to be lured to the house, since he was ready for them with his loaded guns and his bulletproof vest.

So many lives irreparably damaged by this guy.

WOW that's unreal.

But if the cops had fired back and the guy had been killed those three cops would have been put on trial and crucified. Twisted is right.

It's stories like this that make me wonder about those stories where the cop stops someone on the way to the hospital and the person dies because the cop won't let them go. It's no wonder they won't let them go :( Of course I'm not defending abuse of power or anything but man cops these days are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

NOT a job I envy that's for sure :(

Thing is, it's the actions of cops like the bully at the hospital that all too often lead to stuff like this, except the bullies don't usually end up being the ones who pay the price. They're good at avoiding situations where they don't have the upper hand.

We had a case an ambush case over in a county in middle Tennessee that's known for its crooked law enforcement. It was an alleged ambush of the deputies by two men. The two men were acquitted. Seems the deputies were well known for their own actions and the jury basically refused to convict the two gunmen. One of those situations where there was a lot more known than the media was telling. I hear harassment over there isn't as bad as it was.

I agree Fluffy !!! We are a twisted society !!! Not only their pay ( Hollywood ) but their monthly divorce settlement is more per month than I receive a year with SS ! Those who protect us and teachers are WAY underpaid ! Bless those families !

That's why I don't go to the movies !! Too expensive for me and I don't want to support their millions . Now , if they had donation days , I'd go !! If " Marley and Me " had a showing to support the HS , I'd go in a heart beat !

the guy lured the police to simply shoot. they thought they were responding to a domestic violence call, but it was really some twisted mind...armed and wearing a bullet proof vest...that decided to go crazy.
