I hate posting things off of craigslist, but this is the saddest one I've seen:
Old Dog nneds rehommed
I am rehoming a GREAT older dog. She is 14. She keeps falling down alot and it is kind of annyong but it doesnt hurt her. We just got a puppie and she isnt getting along with the new puppie. The puppie also keeps getting into her poop sometimes and it gets in his fur so we have to wash him everyday. This is not good for his skin. We are looking for a GOOD HOME ONLY!!! Reasonible rehomming fee. Shown is the old dog and the puppie so you can see that his fur is too long to be getting in messes everyday.

what?

If you felt you HAD to rehome a dog in that situation wouldn't it naturally be the pup, not the old dog? I'd NEVER rehome my elderly dog for a pup.

^^ this.

When I read something like this, my mind just kind of defaults to "this must just be a troll." I mean I know people really do this ****; I just can't wrap my head around it.

Excatly...........OR........I know it's a novel idea, and probably a bit risqué to say out loud..........but why not TRAIN THE PUPPY TO STAY OUT OF THE POOP? OR WATCH THE PUP AND DON'T LET IT IN THE POOP?

Morons who own pets make me so sad :(

I guess they think a dog is like a car. When the old car is having problems you get a new car and pass the old car onto someone else.

Yeah I thought it was rather sad too...I was going to post my thoughts on it, but I was surfing CL for XL crates and found one for $50, brand new. So I had to go snag that up rather than BS on Chaz, lol. One crate down, one to go. Both dogs are going to fit in XL's so I don't need a Giant, thank God.

The add has been removed.

Sad thing is, the poster is probably wondering why. Since to them, the didnt do anything wrong.

Unbelievable

Situations like that make me feel like crying. What a horribly cruel thing to do to a family pet, especially when the pet's in its senior years. To make a bad situation worse, these people have taken in another dog that could also find itself unwanted somewhere down the road. There is no such thing as a disposable pet. What a heartbreaking scenerio - I really hope its just a made up story by some twisted jerk :(

I really doubt it's made up, to be honest. The pictures of the elderly dog and the new puppy and all. That's what got me about it. Now normally, I don't post CL ads because you never know the circumstances on why someone is rehoming their pet...and it's cruel to cut people down for things out of their control. But this one took the cake, even explaining why they want to give away a 14 year old dog...

I hope that the poor old dog finds a good home with someone who will love it until the end, it was rather sickening.

It's too bad someone can't give this person a piece of his mind. It's just disgusting. How could anyone betray their long time pal? I guess there are people who really do view their canine companions the same way I view my old Subaru....a big chunk of nuts, bolts and metal. So sad...:(

I hope too, that someone adopt this poor dog and gives it the love and devotion she deserves.

That's sad and sick and sad again. :(

That poor dog. 14 years old and about to be rehomed? Ugh. If I were close and I could afford another dog I would call about her.

I hope someone wonderful takes her in and cherishes her for however long she lives.

And the dog is falling down a lot and that's "a little annoying."
I know that's definitely not the worst thing about the ad but as I've just lost the second dog in a few years the memories of them slowing down are fresh and I just can't imagine being irritated because my dogs were having trouble standing up. Heartbroken, yes. Irritated, no.

I doubt it Yodel...someone on CL posted a dog that they just found on the highway. It looks just like the other dog and is said to be approximately the same age.

So either someone dumped her OR they're trying a new tactic.
