It freaked me out, too. It looks soooo unnatural. Just bizarre. And dogs on steroids, don't even get me started on a rant.

Really? I have heard it is very hard on a dog's kidneys.
I never said it was good for them or even ok for them. ;)

It's just too many people in this world have to have a dog to make up for their own tiny endowment size & most do this through their dog.

Creatine is found in meats, naturally, so I dont think it would be bad for a dog. As long as you dont give them too much without enough water.

I used to take creatine myself. It gave me more energy in the weight room and helped me out a lot by making it easier building muscle.

Of course humans are completely different than dogs, but we are both meat eaters. All meat eaters consume creatine.

Just my opinion.

I am female, and thats why I took creatine. Woman have a heck of a time building muscle.

I would never feed my own dog creatine, just because I dont think there is any need for it. My dog doesnt compete in weight pulling or anything.

Creatine is an amino acid found in meat. Dogs need it to build muscle, but there is hardley any in dog foods. When dogs consume meat, they consume creatine. I personally dont think its a danger to the dog at all, but of course thats just my opinion.

You can google "dogs and creatine" and get a lot of information on it.

I would *hope* it's just weight pulling but a while ago their was a controversial pic of a pit and people were saying she was so ripped she must be on steroids, and she was nowhere near like that dog.

personally, after seeing dogs that are very conditioned for weight pull. it MIGHT just be the way the dog is standing but that does NOT look like Normal muscle build up even for a very well conditioned dog.

CREATINE may be a normally occuring thing in meat, however this does NOT let those that abuse things like that ff the hook. in large enough doese it can cause severe problems with the kindeys, not to mention other possible side effects.
and unfortunatly many people want super bulked up "pits" becuase they are trying to make up for something (ie look at me im so tough my dog coudl eat your child! please note these are also the people that tend to be the cause of breed based problems) and those that want this in a dog often dont give a rats arse about how their dogs health suffers for it.
ive seen dogs given excessive amounts of creatine, its not pretty, the dog looks huge but it a mess inside.
ive also met many who give their dog steroids.

a well conditioned dog involved in any strength based activity would not be so overly built, too much mass could be a downfall, the BEST weight pull dogs ive ever met are nicely conditioned, balanced with lot of drive, personally ive seen heavily mucled dog much like the one pictured do terribly in weight pull because their too built from "suppliments" but no real strength behind them.

this is NOT how any "pit bull" breed should look.
defined YES but built like that...never.

Creatine-Creatinine levels are used to determine poor kidney function in cats. Hi levels are not a good thing. I'm not sure what that means to humans or dogs though.
