Would you take your dog to this place?

We make every effort to always have Herschel with us when we eat out in the summer. We call ahead and ask to speak with the manager--it is surprising that so many places are OK with your dog sitting outside with you!

The best ever?

We were planning to eat at this nice, well-known restaurant in downtown Chicago. I made my reservation online with Open Table and in the notes I wrote that I wanted to bring Herschel.

"Ed" called me back. He said that they weren't doing outdoor seating because it was too warm. I said that we would have to cancel our reservation unless he could find another way to accommodate us. He said he would work something out.

We showed up for our reservation. One of the wait staff goes back and grabs Ed. He comes to the front of the restaurant, walks us back to his office. He says that Herschel can stay (in his crate) under his desk!

We trusted him (and the restaurant) and enjoyed a meal inside while Herschel rested under Ed's desk. After our meal, we asked our server if he could go get Ed. Ed walks out with Herschel's crate and thanked us for coming by. I smoothly tried to slip him $20 as I shook his hand.

Turns out that he is the owner of this incredible successful restaurant. The guy personally took care of our little dog and he owns the place!

I love your idea!!!!!

Great Idea but.....a restaurant tried to do that here (Victoria, BC) and they were shut down by the city. The customers LOVED it - the dogs LOVED it but.....those who must be obeyed :hail: don't care. Personally I'd rather eat with dogs than people coughing and sneezing - kids with runny noses..... but that's just me.
I hope you live in an area where this could work!!! I HATE leaving Bella in the car when we stop to eat - I do drive-through before I'll leave her in the car in a parking lot where I can't see her and you can't leave dogs in cars on hot days...... I'd go to a doggie friendly eating place anyday!!!!! Let me know if you succeed - if we're ever in your part of the world we'll eat there!!!

There are several restaurants on the waterfront in Portland that allow you to have your dogs along while you eat. It's great!

NOT just you. I get up and leave if someone's coughing and sneezing. And when parents let their kids get dirty and run amok, I glower at them until they notice and do something about it.

I wish there were more dog friendly places here.
I would definitely go to a place that allows dogs like that, providing there were policies on behavior.
