Inspired by Melissa's thread if you found a cell phone would you return it?

I find a cell phone to be kind similar to a diary. You don't know if the pictures on their phone are the only pictures they have of their best friend who just died, or have something in it thats very special to them. Most people's lifes are on their cell phones. So I couldn't be able to not return a cell phone to a person, no matter how pricey the phone was. I remember how I felt to lose all the pictures, special text I saved, music, phone numbers I lost. Also I had a recording of my cockatiel who died on my cell, and that was the only recording I had of him :(

Also I remember watching on how someone who lost a loveone on sept. 11 had a the last voicemail they had of that person erased, because thats how long the phone kept a saved voicemail. And I know I keep some special texts and would just about freak if I lost my phone and those texts. And all the music I've bluetooth, I'll get real annoyed if I had to start all aover from scratch, and I feel real bad for people who actually buy their ringtones & lsoe their phones.

Yes. My cell phone, to me, is my tie to my social life and the outside world in general. It's one of the only materialistic things that I hold in high value. Like I said in an earlier thread, a bit of empathy can make people do the right things.

Yeah, I'd try to give them a call if I could find a number that said "home" or something similair. Maybe a relative or something.

I couldn't imagine keeping it though! I'd be too paranoid about getting in trouble lol

Well you cant get it activated anyway if they report it lost or stole n through cell phone insurance or w/ the police. They will arrest you so I dont understand why people steal cell phones The victim would just have the service cut off and report the serial number then if you tried to have it activated they could trace it. Just like you cant activate a phone w/ a bill attached. I would always return it. I have lost mine countless times and someone always returns it. They calL "MOM" lol. Then she yells at me and tells me where to go get it. Why dont they ever call "DAD" I wonder? One time I lost it at a concert arena in oklahoma and I live in arkansas. They called mom and she gave them our address and they mailed it. lol.

Yes definitely.......but then I return ANYTHING possible I find :) I am the person that holds up a line giving back over payment of change, hehehehehehe

I have turned a wallet full of money in to the police department before, it had ID, but I didn't feel right contacting the man in the picture myself. Did the officer on duty do the right thing and make sure it was ALL returned?? I don't know......but my conscience is clean, LOL

Yes I would definately return it. Just as I would return any item I found if I was able to track down the owner of it. I think it's awful to lose something and wouldn't want someone else to have to endure the feeling of loss if someone found it and could return it.

I would and I have. I found one last year in the Barnes and Noble parking lot. Called "Mom" and "Dad"; Dad finally answered and told me his daughter worked at the store. I left it for her at the service desk.

If nothing else, I'd be annoyed getting someone else's calls all the time.

Yes.... it's someone else's and probably something they worked hard to earn. In my situation, I would like the same.

absolutely I would return it--I have been on the other end of a lost wallet (my husband's really)--and what it meant to have it returned. If I find things, I always try to locate the owner--don't see why you wouldn't! :)

Yes I definitely would. I've lost my phone twice and had it returned to me. The first time I dropped it on the way to my bus stop, so someone from my apartment building found it and called my mother. Another time I think I left it on the top of my car while I was loading Joey after a vet visit. A vet tech found it th next morning in the parking lot and called my mother again. Thank god for good people and moms!:D

I would if I could. I have found 3 cell phones out in the fields by here. I couldnt return any of them (but 1) becuase they were all dead by the time I got ahold of the phones, with no way to charge them there wasnt much I could do, I asked other people if they had chargers that would fit, they didnt. So I just tookt he cell phones to a local rogers video, they take donated phones and do somthing with them. One phone had a sim card in it, and my brothers phone has a sim card as well, so we put it in his phone and got the numbers out of it, they were happy to have it back.

I found a cellphone once. I scrolled through the phonebook until I found "home" and called that number. I returned the cell that afternoon and the woman was so appreciative she asked for my mailing address and sent me a thank you card. I would hope that if I left my cell someplace someone would return it to me as I know I would be lost without it.

I always return them. Last night 13 cell phones got stolen at a house party I went to. Not to mention close to 20 purses and a lot of other valuable objects. I don't understand how people can be thieves.
