Buster is always out, he isn't allowed to approach right off the bat atm because due to lack of exposure he's become mildly reactive. But he would rather glue to my side as it is and after a few minutes he's fine.

Nope. They live here. If they need some time away from people to decompress then I give that to them, but because a guest wants them put up?

*extreme sarcasm alert* Oh yah, that's gonna happen.

The only people I like well enough to entertain that sort of request from without telling them to get the hell out of my house are the kind who wouldn't ever ask because they like being around the dogs. And yes, I have invited people to leave because they've wanted to insist that the animals who live here be locked up while they're gracing me with their presence

This is why we don't have people over - very rarely - with 5 dogs (different personalities) and 2 cats.

If they were being pests, I'd put them up or outside but both dogs are good with guests and pretty much stay out of the way...Virgo has to be kept in a particular spot if there's food about, otherwise she embarks on espionage counter-surfing missions. Sawyer just wants to be in the center of attention.

I've never had anyone ask to have the dogs put up though.

If she was misbehaving, she'd be put up immediately, whether someone asked or not.

If they asked and she was being good, I think it would depend . . . on the tone of the request and the reason. Could you please put the dog up because [I'm allergic, I'm scared of dogs]? Sure, I'd put her up. Put up the d*mn dog! will result in them being asked to leave.

If you were having a social gathering at your house...

Would you put your dogs away (in the basement, a spare bedroom, their kennels) during the gathering automatically?

What if a guest asked if the dogs could be put somewhere else?
Depends on what's going on.

If I have my elderly granparents coming over, yes, I will put the pups in a crate and the dogs in a room with a bone to naw on.

If like today, where we've got aunts and uncles, grandparents and friends coming over through out the day, no I won't. They can behave themselves. They can sniff for a minute then go lie down near someone or in an open crate upstairs.

If someone ASKS me to put them up, then I probably will. BUT! If my dog/s are being that annoying, I'm not going to wait for someone to ask me to them up.

It would depend on how my dogs were behaving. Loki usually gets to be out. Terra and Priest, not so much because they can be jerks sometimes. We usually rotate the dogs in and out when there's people over. Give each of them a chance to mingle. But if someone was over that just flat didn't like dogs, I'd tell them to shove off, that the dogs live here and they don't. When I go over to a smoker's house, I deal with the smoke, even though I cannot stand it. They can deal with my dogs.

Reggin can be boisterous, so yep, he gets put up automatically, depending on who comes over. If its just some little kids coming over, then I leave him out. The kids tend to not pay him too much attention. Its when the adults come over and get him riled up is when he gets put up. People like to give him attention, which gets him too excited.

Pebbles gets put up when she wont stop yapping her head off. If she behaves, she can enjoy time out with the guests.

If my dogs were PERFECTLY behaved, then they would be out 100% of the time. I've never had someone tell me to put my dogs away.

IF my house was bigger maybe i would leave them out. BUt Zoom can tell you, there is no room. It is just easiser and more peaceful for someone to be able to get themselves in the door and get settled in then to have them happy greeting or wanting to happy greet. Especially if it is Logan or Zoom when they know that person might mean a trip to a park or a walk. If for some odd reason someone like a nieghbor or someone about artwork, then they stay up. I don't want to be distracted from my company but maybe that is just me. IF it is someone that came to see the dogs as well, then of course.

I do put my dogs away for guests. 5 Rottweilers is a bit overwhelming for most people. If people want to visit with my dogs, they come out one at a time.

If they don't, then they stay put away.

I love my dogs, but I like guests too. :D

See...if I were a visitor in your house, I'd love five Rottweilers milling around, maybe slobbering on me a little bit and hopefully putting one paw up on my lap. :p

Yes, I'd especially like Miss Penny to bring me some appetizers in that basket she collects tips in. *hint, hint* Am I invited yet? Rfffffff.

I agree with everyone else- it depends on your dogs.

Duke goes away anytime guests come over- after everyone settles I bring him out with his head halter on and is allowed to greet people politely one on one while they give him a cookie and say hi. Then he goes back into his crate. In the future it would be nice if he could stay out while guests are over but he is still to nervous with people around in the house and I wouldn't be able to interact with anyone if he was out as I would have to keep my eye on him 100% of the time.

I think a guest is a guest and if they have a fear of dogs and you invited them over it's really your duty to act on the situation.

No, I would not put Brenna away ever. She live in the house as well, but she would not bug anyone, and really unless she called for me to be let outside to potty no one would really know she was even here.

I'm not much of a type to have guests over frequently so my dog has never quite gotten used to having any, so he doesn't know how to behave properly. So he does get to stay in his crate mostly if we should happen to have anyone over, especially if it's any children or anyone else that doesn't have enough sense to simply let the dog say hi once and then ignore him regardless what he does. Not that he would ever hurt anyone but he's much too friendly and kids make his behaviour worse with their screaming and running all over the place. I tend to shut myself in my room with my dog when any of those comes around as I can't stand young children for even a minute.
