My family is pretty healthy. There are a couple of old folks in my extended family that had strokes, but that was more to do with dietary choices than genetics.

Personally I'm more high strung and have PTSD, but that came about from my environment and not genetics. Balance issues, but that again was from an accident not genetics.

There are asperger's genetics in my family, which I view as an asset because the people in my family that get a heavier dose (and diagnosis) have all been extremely brilliant and gone on to do research and things that contribute to furthering human understanding of the world around us. I wouldn't rule anybody out of having kids because of aspergers. We just see it as normal and treat people that way, I think the reason we do well is because of that/environment where a lot of people don't get that kind of support.

We live a really long time and generally stay really independent into old age. Most old folks in my family live into their 90s and pass away quietly at home. My dad will be 70 next year and he was able to outlift all the young guys at home depot when he bought a bajillion bags of cement. They were pretty embarrassed. lol

My only major known genetic issue is celiac. Which is kind of crummy, but only because of the foods commonly available in the west. Celiac genes are what helped people survive the bubonic plague, because celiacs in general have a stronger immune response than the rest of the population.

All that said, my kids turned out pretty dang awesome. :p

Nope. Nope nope nope.

Histories of addicition, primarily alcoholism, on my father's side. Cancer and mental illness on my mother's side.

Both of my parents died rather early (aged 56 and 67) of separate health issues that were likely genetic.

My boyfriend is of very healthy stock, so I'm stacking the odds in favour for my offspring. :rofl1:

My mom's side is quite healthy, until they get in their 70s/80s and get cancer that they die from. Most of the people I know that got cancer, however, also smoked, and a good instance of it was lung cancer. Her mother is still pretty healthy, is just having issues with sodium consumption now, and that came on when she was older. Plus she won't go out in the winter walking, because she's worried about mobility, and her memory is starting to not be as sharp -- both very recent. I'm not sure about her biological father.

Dad's side of the family is rampant with addiction, obesity, cancer and heart disease. His mother died of cancer, I don't quite recall with his father, I was quite young -- but I think probably alcohol related.

Immediately, my mom was recently diagnosed with Thyroid issues. My father has had numerous heart attacks, has psoriasis, is obese and has numerous allergies.

I got "lucky" and got all the health issues. I've been diagnosed with depression, OCD, addictive personality and many types of anxiety. I also wear glasses and have numerous allergies.

So, no. Not at all. :p

Probably not

My temperament is questionable. Easily distracted and don't have much impulse control. I also tend to get frustrated easily, and some noises get on my nerves (like people chewing...)

My legs are the opposite of straight and therefore my knees give me problems. I also have a history of carpal tunnel in the family. 3 of my 4 grandparents died young (though one of those was childbirth, so I'm not sure that counts).

I have good vision & neither of my parents needed glasses until they were older, but both of my siblings got glasses in middle school. My husband's eyes are worse. he can't see worth a darn, but I think that is more from other issues.

My lines are ok. Not spectular, but pretty good. I on the other hand, would be the bitch who ate her own puppies, so not a chance.

I've got good genes! We don't really have a family history of anything on either side of my family. ON my dad's side they live into their 90's. My Grandfather passed away a couple of years ago in his 95th year from pneumonia. My Grandmother is 93 and had a hip replacement at 90 and she still lives on her own. It's tough for her without my grandpa but that's more because they were married over 60 years and it's hard to be alone. My grandfathers siblings also lived well into old age and my grandmothers siblings experienced the same. My Great uncle Brian still comes over from England (alone) to visit my grandmother every year and he's 90.

On my mom's side, my grandmother died from cancer. Started in her liver and spread but there is no history of that. Seemed a fluke thing. Other than that... my great grandmother lived to be almost 90 and lived on her own. Well she lived in a retirement facility but that was mostly because her brother needed some extra help and after their spouses died they lived together. It was one where you have your own apartment and you just call if you need something but otherwise totally independent. She was funny because she couldn't WAIT to live there. She kept saying "if I don't want to clean... I can all someone and they'll clean for me. or bring me food. It's amazing" lol. My Aunt nancy is in her 80's and survived colon cancer. She also lives on her own still. The only thing on my mothers side is... we shrink... A LOT lol.

I won't say my family has lots of higher education but we've all made good livings for ourselves and our families. Someone's gotta drive truck, deliver the mail, etc. We also had a lot of stay at home mom's :)

I think so?

On my dad's side both my grandparents lived into their mid-nineties, on their own, rurally, and they were both very sharp and totally with it mentally until the very end. My mother's side, my grandfather died in his 70s, my grandmother is still alive.

No real prevalent health issues or mental health issues. One of my uncles suffered from alcoholism, but he had a very rough life.

On my dad's side, pretty much everyone is a musician, most of them professional, so musical talent runs very strongly. Lots of very creative, artistic, innovative people on both sides of the family.

My mom has terrible eyes but me and both of my sisters have perfect vision so that seems alright. Pretty decent teeth, none of us needed braces. Generally tend to be fairly strong and lean, with unusual upper body strength for women.

Not a chance, history of diabetes (type 1) which I passed to my daughter at the tender age of 14... Obesity issues and seriously addictive personalities... Plus I've recently struggled with some serious depression which I'm sure is not a desirable trait.... My grandparents on Moms side were brutal alcoholics who both died in their 60's pretty much from complications related to their alcoholism... My grandparents on Dads side, Grandad passed at 65 from a heart attack and Grandma at 73 from cancer... Not a really long lived "line"

I've already "bred" though lol so I can only hope my kids make the right lifestyle choices to help them live long and happy

I have good lineage, but I myself am a poor candidate for breeding. Lots of temperament problems and food aggression.
