Would I be crazy to e-mail these people?

No, it's not about getting another dog.

It's about Bella. I saw this ad for "Non Registered German Shepherd Pups", and of course, I looked, because since getting Bella, I've been looking at all the BYB GSD breeders and GSD breeders around, trying to figure out where she came from... These people state in their ad:
These are bred after the old style of German Shepherds with the straight backs and they should also be of a larger size than the standard Shepherds.
Now, Bella's a BIG dog. She's 26 inches tall, and she's a big girl build wise. I always assumed her tall height was because of early spays, or just poor breeding.

They show these pictures:

The full ad can be seen here: Non registered German Shepherd pups - Fredericton Dogs & Puppies For Sale - Kijiji Fredericton

Do you think I'm just grasping at straws here, or would it be worth a shot to e-mail them and find out who they are? I know the name of Bella's breeder, just not her "kennel" name... I've tried googling the lady with GSD breeder included, but from what I can tell, she doesn't have a site.

Really, I don't NEED to know - it's just curiosity getting the best of me.

Though, the more that I think about it, the more I think I'm grasping at straws.

If you know the ladies name, I expect you can find the kennel pretty easily.

I contacted several Mountain Cur breeders from the region Meg was originally rescued, just curious to see if anyone would recognize her lines or anything. They were all very pleasant, and two people both suggested the same lines based on her pictures. I think it's fun to try and find out the history on these "mystery" dogs.

BB, do you have any tips on HOW I can find the kennel name? Is there a site? Or...? With google, I've had NO luck.

Heck, at this point, I'm willing to tell someone else her name if they think they'd be able to find me her kennel.

How do you know Bella's breeder has a kennel? Lots of BYBs don't have a kennel name. . .

That's also a point, Lizmo. I don't know for sure, but if I had a place to search the breeders name and it'd show if they had a kennel name, that'd help.

I don't know of a place. If someone does, I'd be interested to know.

Personally I would email the people and tell them you are trying to find Bella's breeder and ask if their name is so-and-so. No need to go into much more than that unless the response is "yes".

If you know her name, and, I expect, her town, I'd just ask around. Check to see if it is listed in the phonebook. Ask at local petfood stores or training centers. Just explain that you have a dog that came from them originally, she's doing great, and you'd love to pass along an update.

I'm also considering calling her first owner who was the one to buy her. Bella's chipped, but that doesn't do me any good, as the chip information is the first owners.

Not to stray, but that 2nd dog looks a lot like Gunnar!

And the 3rd one is WAY too fat!

Have you tried Canada 411? Do a reverse search on the number in the ad, see if it's the name you're looking for. Or you could search the name and see what you get.
