Would anyone be interested in (cheap) leather collars?

AKA help feed a broke college kid?

I'm going to have quite a bit of time to myself come this summer and I've decided to try my hand at upcycling leather collars (i.e making leather collars from thrifted leather).

Today I had lots of time on my hands and really wanted to try to make one. But alas, my school is in the middle of nowhere and after calling every store within 15 miles that sounded remotely crafty, I managed to get my hands on a leather punch and a few (not really intended for leather) rivets. It was lots of fun, albeit my "masterpiece" definitely needs tweaking, so I went ahead and ordered some real deal supplies offline which should be arriving in the next few days.

Anyhow, this was my very first result and I hope to improve as the summer goes on and once I get some legit supplies:

Would anyone be interested in buying one of these off of me for cheap once I can get started so I can improve? I'd probably just ask for the cost of supplies + a few bucks shipping - right now my best guesstimate would be that it'd come to $7-$12 per collar give or take to anyone in the US.

If so, I'd definitely be able to custom do length to suit your dog. Color would be a bit more of a gamble based on what I can scrounge up, but black and brown were in major supply today and I managed to also find red and white. Width would be about the same, but I found everything ranging from 3/4 inch to 1.5 inches today :)

Any interest? I'd appreciate it!

I don't see why not if you'd be okay to cover the shipping! :) I'll let you know when I get the legit rivets - for the time being - would you have any preferences on color/width? I can keep an eye out in the thrift shops. Can't promise exacts, but I can try to get close!

And to everyone - I'll definitely post photos after I make the collars and confirm that they're alright. I'm a beginner, but I wouldn't feel right selling anything (even if mostly just to cover costs) if you weren't happy (just remember I'm learning haha!).

I'm honestly happy with whatever width/colour. I tend to use 1.5 - 2inch collars but I've been using 1inches a tad more. I'm not fussed on color as I have a female and male dog so you can pick the colours out. If you do happen to find any oranges things, I'd be happy with that for my Kelpie x. I did see you might be able to get white leather, I'd be interested in that as well. I'm happy to buy a few collars from you.

So, no pressure, I'm happy with whatever you can find/use, it's fun to see the random things people will come up with.

Are you testing out the collar you posted on your own dog? I really like it, job well done.

Thank you!

Very cool and thanks! I wish I had a dog here to test it on! Sadly Boo is at home living with my parents while I'm at school. But I guesstimated on the length, so hopefully it'll fit her when I return. I'll let you know when the real hardware comes in if you'll let me know neck sizes and I'll go from there :)
