Well this post is really to just for me to talk to someone. It is a grim time in Albany. On Friday the 13th(I believe it was), a kid my sister knew got shot in the head over drugs. He was only 19. His wake was yesterday and his funeral was this morning. My sister went and was in tears as they carried in his casket. He lived in an apartment beneath my sisters best friend and they saw each other often. He was well known, and alot of people went to his funeral instead of school, it was really empty today. My good friend David was really close to him and said that he didnt even look normal when he saw him at his wake. David said there was wax fixed to the side of his head to cover the bullet hole(s). Also, an eight grade girl was found stabbed 9 times and dumped a few miles from her home. She went to a school only minutes away from where I live and a lot of people in my highschool know her from last year. My friend Derrick now walks his two friends home because they are scared to take that road to their houses. The worst is, the killer is still free and is probably close by. The street the girl lived on is very close to my street.

It is always a tragidy when someone we know and care for dies! It's even more so when that person is so young. I am so sorry for your loss and it is very scary to think there is a killer on the loose!! Please keep to public areas and avoid being on your own as much as possible! Stay safe!

Nedim ,this is so hard for you to deal with !!! You are so sensitive and things like this are so heartbreaking. You are a good boy and know right from wrong. Stay away from drugs and those dealing with them. I'm so glad you have your Peanut for times like this. We're here for you ! You will be a roll model ..... keep your good morals .

I'm so sorry, nedim. The world we live in really stinks, doesn't it?

On Mother's Day, here in IL, two little girls were beaten and stabbed to death...one of their fathers is being charged. How cruel can someone be?

You be careful, Nedim! Listen to the good advice about staying in well-lit public areas. Try to always have a friend with you when you're out. Keep your eyes open and notice your surroundings so you'll pick up on anything that's strange or different . . . AND LISTEN TO YOUR GOOD INSTINCTS!

It's just wrong for you kids to have to live in a world that's not safe; it would be so easy for people to act like decent human beings and just live with compassion.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I'm still really bummed out and everything is starting to bother me. I really dont like the world we live in. This is not how things should be. There must be someplace on Earth that has fresh air, cool sunny days, and an absolutely carefree environment. I cant believe all the things I'm hearing. People are being tortured by pain and death and the creeps who do it only get a prison sentence(if they're even caught). Thanks to everyone for their concern, it is good to know I have someone to talk with about things like this.

Nedim, I too am so sorry for the loss of these young people and want to encourage you to be careful and protect yourself. The world can be scary and mean but it also can be beautiful, filled with caring compassionate people. Don't forget that. At times such as what you're going through, it is easy to just see the bad, but look for the good too. Seek out the good, feed your soul with it.

I'm not too worried about myself. I'm a big kid and I'm bigger than most adults. I can handle myself, but I'm fed up with having to be on the safe side because of punks like this who draw out the fear in people. I'm sickened by these fools who kill kids and make it so hard for everyone to even open their eyes in the morning. Its an empty, cold feeling.

I agree, Nedim . When I think of my childhood and that of my children , life didn't seem so full of the fear we need to have for our kids today. Such a shame.! I don't think there is a parent today who would allow their kid to play hide-and-go-seek , or kick the can etc near an alley today...or in the woods. Even walking to school, or back home from a lesson or practice is a no-no . It's such a shame !!!!!

I hear you all. I'm about sick of what this planet has turned into. Don't want to tread on anyone's religious beliefs, but its all in the bible. This is what will happen when we're coming into the end of time. Not meaning that will happen tomorrow, next week, next month, or in the next 1000 years. But, it's been prophesized and I (my own belief) believe in that. That's why I hold onto my faith in the afterlife. This life is just a blink of your eye (that's my opinion). And it almost makes it fascinating to see history unfold and know what is to come. And to get ready for it. The increased crime and hate, etc. I guess the one lesson is to try and enjoy life the best you can even admist these horrible things that are happening in the world -- murders, drugs, war, nuclear weapons, the list goes on and on. Offer love and friendship to the world, not the other stuff that's going on. Don't become desensitized, but stay in tune with it. Rally against it. And especially, our beloved pets help us stay sane through it all. Just keep on loving on them too. But of course, I'm preaching to the choir. :(

You could come and live with us!!! Apart from never having any money we are pretty carefree my Gus and me!!

It sadens me to think that little children will never have the freedom to do things that I did as a child, and I had less freedom than my parents did! Where will it all end?!! :(

I dont know. I have a religion, but I dont practice it or even put too much faith into it. I (not my religion) believe that you only get one life. And that is what hurts the most. You only live once, and then its all over.forever. You never get a chance to go back, you never get a chance to try again. Everything just ends. Its sickening to know that your one chance at happiness is being obstructed by people who cant get things straight for themselves

Maybe the reason you feel the way you do is to find that faith that there is more? You say you have a religion, but don't practice it. YES YOU DO! Everyday you are living! I can tell you have a sweet, good spirit about you and you practice it here on this discussion board, even! You have shown this good spirit with Peanut. And with us. So, have faith. There is more. You give to people, I can tell. You make the world a better place. That should make you feel good...
