I hope it's OK to put this on here, it's not about my own dog. I have some friends who went above and beyond the call to help an old dog. My friend saw an an old yellow lab get hit by a car. He was not severely injured, but needed help. She picked him up and took him to the vet to have him cared for. She could not find his owners, and rather than turn him over to animal control, she paid the bills her self and took him home and named him Jack. I think it was love at first sight for her husband, who is very new to dogs, and thinks they are wonderful. He was a loving dog who was obviously grateful to his new owners. This was a year and a half ago. In the last few months Jack's health went downhill in spite of the wonderful care he was getting. A lot of emotional and monetary effort went into trying to save him. They finally had to have him put down, and called me because they had never dealt with actually losing a treasured friend like Jack. I helped them bury him and the hardest part was seeing how much it hurt them to lose the dog.. They were heartbroken. He was a beautiful dog and his people gave everything they could for him. I think people like that deserve a special place.

how wonderful and sad all at the same time--they will forever be touched by having Jack in their lives...and he found the "jack-pot" in them!
