I don't see how it's any different from any other type of fur (which I don't agree with) but at least the animals are dying naturally and not being farmed for her business.

I don't think people should be sending her death threats, but, I'm sorry, that's CREEPY. Turning cherished family members into PILLOWS?? O___O

Personally I would never want one... but if some people do, well it was there pet.
The animal is already dead from other causes... not being killed for it... so why not.
I couldn't stand to have it done with my dogs... but apparently some people can.

i'll admit, it's a bit weird and definitely not my taste...

I always tell Trey he'd make a nice pillow, but not literally.

It's wierd, yes.

But people need to get over themselves. Why waste your time writing up death threats when animals are actually in danger in shelters, and puppy mills...

People can be so dumb.

Oh my god... that is downright creepy. Frightening. Uggh. How could anyone do that?! Just the thought of turning Honey (old Lab) or one of my old cats into a.. a PILLOW?! Excuse me, I think I need to use the bathroom...

I mean jeez.. I guess if some people want it.. but in my opinion, that is just sick.

Its not that abd-its not like they are killing it for the pillow.

Its not that diffrent from having a vase made out of ashes or keeping the ashes on the mantle.

I don't thinkI've ever touched a throw pillow in my house -they are all decorations. So I don't really see a diffrence.

When I was little my dad used to joke about getting our labs taxidermied and jsut having them always sit by the fire place-that literally gave me nightmares and thank god he was kidding:p

So in a way it is a "good" way to remember your pet. But it's not how I would want to remember Gipsy (I don't want to have remember her :( ). I (even though I've never told him) have problems with my dad having the heart on his drivers lisence saying he's an organ doner, I don't know why, but I do. I wouldn't want to have the body of anyone that I know be de-skined, have organs taken out of them, or be burnt. I just have sirious problems with that, and I don't know why. That's why I would NEVER get one of those pillows, but if you can remember your pet that way, then by all means.
The hate mail is stupid. There is no need for it. People let their pets be taxidermed.

Wos Boy! This one is off the wall! She has good intentions but gee's oh pete's, if I want a memory of my dog, I'd look at the pic's. If people want to they can dry freeze their pets, or have them stuffed. But why a pillow?????:yikes: Make's one wonder!

Oh gee.... ummm, don't quite know what to say about this. The thought gives me a major case of the heebie jeebies.

I did get a couple chuckles out of the article though.

"You get an animal that's blasted and shot up, and you think, how on earth am I going to fix this? But it comes back to life again. I love getting the expression in the eyes."
Comes back to life???? Ewwww. Considering the "expression in the eyes" might be "Ack! She's got a gun!"

"I have run off boyfriends so much, it's not even funny," she explained, saying that some were put off when they opened the freezer to find a bear head.
The bear head, or the deer testicles next to it? Toss up as a date killer, isn't it?

People greive in different ways. No animals are being harmed with this. It's not your animal, and if you wouldn't do it--- then it stays at that. I would never turn a pet into a pillow. However alot of people would obviously if this taxerdermist is recieving hate mail due to her new customers requests..

That is creepy... I don't think I'd ever want one.

Something I DO want though, is a pillow or blanket or something made out of my pets' shed fur.

I don't think I could handle any more than naturally shed fur though... an entire SKIN on the side of the pillow would creep me out.

Gypsy ....I know this is hard for you to grasp... it's only natural . When my dear Tom died, and was a donor , I thought that nothing could be donated as to his failed organs . I was wrong . Due to 911 the skin banks were in need , bone marrow was in need .... plus bone parts. He was gone .... whatever was left to help others went on. No , It's not pretty to dwell on , but why not harvest what God created ?? The soul is what counts . In fact , I wonder what our dear pets could contribute before the are cremated or buried ....... corneas ?? tissue ?? Anyone know ??

Wow. I could never have one of those.
Although I think it's very odd and not something I would ever do or have done, doesn't mean the woman needs to be recieving death threats and hate mail. If she was killing them just to make fur of course I would have a problem with that, but it's her way of preserving a pet that a lot of people just really aren't comfortable with.

Kind of creepy to me too, but I agree that people grieve in different ways. For some this would be comfort. People with bucks are having pet DNA clone samples saved. People who don't have a lot and don't want to let go might do this. Grieving is not always a rational process.
