Loki, my "problem child" at the shelter has been adopted :D I think I mentioned him here before, he is a massive wolf mix who has some issues with authority. He got a fantastic home with an active retired couple in their 40's, they have experience with wolfdogs and have plenty of room and money for Loki, plus they are willing to continue his training and give him a job to do. He's such a neat dog and has come a long way. I wouldve taken him in a flash if he wouldn't have tried to make dinner out of my two dogs, lol

So, now that Loki is in his (hopefully) forever home, the shelter has no more problem children! :D Which means that until we get another unadoptable dog, I will be exercising and socializing the puppies and young adoptable dogs.

I love working with the "problem children" as we call them (affectionately) but puppy duty is SO much fun too, I can't wait to play with the little guys... Send me strength, though - it'll take a lot of it to resist bringing one home.

I know, I am sooo happy he got a good home. They are "snowbirds" (no idea what they are doing in AZ so late, most people are gone by April) and have acreage in Montana, so he'd not only get out of the heat for a while but he'd have room to run.

That's what I've been telling myself - it's just one more! ;) My parents are dreading this because they know I'll find a dog that I "click" with. When Loki and the other dog I was working with, Chewy (really timid Pitbull mix) were there, I spent 99% of my time with them and didn't get to do much with the other dogs. Chewy's still there but she's not scared of people anymore, so I really don't have anyone to work with at this point.

I just know I'm going to end up with a puppy soon. There are a lot of them there, some are even herding breeds.. If they make me spend time with BC or Aussie mix pups, you guys might be seeing a "new dog" post from me this week

wolf mix? as in a real wolf? as in a hybrid?

I am always very leary of hybrids, I was attacked by a wolf/dog mix (his name was Myanga, and he was the cutest thing EVAR). I hope its not a real wolf mix.

I'm leaving in a couple of hours... lol now really isn't the best time for a puppy, I'm leaving in 7-10 days and travelling with a pup isn't too fun. I'm just going to play and socialize, not planning on bringing one home. ;)

Yes, Loki is most likely a real wolf mix. We didn't have background info on him, but certain physical features (eyes especially, he is a big dark dog with piercing yellow wolf eyes) and behavioral characteristics lead us to think that he is. He really is a great boy though, just quite strong willed with the size, strength and bravery to stand up for himself. He's not a dog that people need to be leary of, he responds very well to respectful attention from strangers. He just thinks he's in charge until a person proves him wrong.
