wiping your dogs butt after he poops?

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to get a survery, who here wipes their dogs butt after they poop? I've never heard of anyone doing that and I've never done it but the household i'm living in is making me do that, so just thought id see what most ppl think about it. I think it's a bit much..

It does seem like a bit much. But I have found poop stains on the carpet after Thor went ca-ca and it didnt all fall off.

Can't say I've ever had to.. my three seem to get it all off themselves.

I have a toy breed who is a puppy, and even with his long hair on the butt I have never had to wipe (I wipe the other end for potty training issues though!)

Eep. No way.

Only time I've ever had to do cleanup after they do their business is if they have diarrhea. And that is taken care of with the hose.

A nice sanitary trim prevents "dingle berries" (lol!)

only when she's got the runs. she likes to run in and sit on my bed.... so i like to be sure. otherwise, nope. but everyones got their thing... i do wipe off her paws when she come in from the rain .

I really don't have too, they have a nice little firm deposit that just doesn't get stuck on their bum bum. Though, like others have said, it has happened a time or two when one of them gets diarrhea and a bit needs to be whipped off, especially on the long fur.

i wipe his butt only when I see that there's something still there. Since he likes being held and relaxing on the sofa, etc.. then i don't want any stains on me or my things =P

My mom wipes our Cocker Spaniels butt . Just because he always tends to have some stuck to that area after he goes . She has wet wipes outside the backdoor and everything. I am happy to say I do not wipe my Saint Bernard mixes butt.
