No. No one has any fun in the winter ..or at least not the kinds of winters that we have around here. I am seriously over this island. In an attempt to hate winter less, the girls& I decided to put on snowshoes& brave the -12C weather. We did have fun but I was very glad to get home& take a hot shower!

Mandatory snapshot of the lake we snowshoed ..it was fun. I think even the lake looks cold, however.

Typical Penn ..I only had my wide angle lens so there are no stellar shots in this batch but this one cracks me up. Manic about ice.

More manic running post-lake. At this point she was super excited because there was wildlife to harass. And that's her favourite pastime!

The girls with the dog ..I'm only including this because I love the perspective of it for some odd reason.

Red dog is definitely one of the girls. She ran the hardest out of all of us, she was the brave adventurer to test the lake to make sure it was frozen in the middle (because if it will hold 50lb Penny it will hold people more than double her weight.. solid logic)& she was definitely the most funny!

I love the pictures!!!
Penny is so pretty <3

Also, criteria for next dog just grew to include: tall enough to snowshoe with. Although that may be covered under the "must be large enough to skijor" clause.

And I would KILL to see Siri skijoring ahahah I think she has the gumption to make it happen! Also, all you skijoring people or people who want to try it, are so brave. Seriously. i'd be horrified to let Penny pull me anywhere

There is a couple here that skijores with their toy poodles :p

I would be willing to try it, but before I buy the gear I would need...I need to convince Siri that even going running with me is fun. I took her for a couple short runs last year, and she said it sucked :p

That is amazing about the toy poodles. And poor Siri ..she has little legs!

AWESOME SNOWSHOES! Where are they from?!

Also, looks like Pen had a blast!
Penny is definitely the life of the party when we do outdoor adventures! She is running my half with me in a few weeks.. crazy dog! The snowshoes are Louis Garneau :) Any MEC or outdoor store should carry them. They are expensive BUT most stores offer rentals. I own my own LG pair but my girlfriend owns a store& set a pair aside for all of us so we just used the stores. Pretty good deal if you just want to go out a few times :)

I think it's more that she gets bored than anything. She doesn't understand why she can't stop and sniff and chase leaves and whatnot. At first she goes YAY RUNNING! And then 15 mnutes later she's all... "uh...why are we still running?"

This summer I am hoping that we can run on more trails instead of sidewalks and I can have her on a flexi instead of a short leash and maybe that will make it better?

Isn't it the best? It's one of the few things that makes winter tolerable for me. That& staying inside :D I love that photo, as well!

That makes sense. A lot of times I trail run& Penn is off leash. When we do training runs, she goes on the halti but I think she enjoys shutting her brain off in downtown as much as I do!

We have awesome trails here too, I just need to be able to run far enough to make driving there worth it :p
I won't let her off-leash, but I think the additional smells and sights might make it easier for her? Or harder, lol. Either way, I'll try it, and if she doesn't want to come, she doesn't have to. Just makes it easier if I can exercise the dog AND myself instead of one then the other.
