Why'd u name you dog his or her name

Just wondering if you name your dog because something he/she did or because it was a name you heard and like etc etc


I named Tyson Tyson because when I went to go and get him was just so excited jumping licking bitting he managed to get up on my shoulder and bit my ear lol it was just a nip but from then i decided that i would name him after a nothing ear biting male MIKE "TYSON" lol so thats how my pup got his name

I am very interested on how everyone got the names for their four legged babies

I named my siberian Izzy because I love that name and it was the name I wanted my daughter to name my grand daughter and she didnt want to

Nalla is named after Lion King

I have named my dogs after Disney movies or their personalities

Mufasa Pekingnese
Belle Pekingnese
Shadow (he was afraid of his own shadow) Pekingnese
Chewy (he looked like chewbacca from starwars Pekingnese)
Bubbles (her personality was bubbly also a pek.)

Gunnar (Gunnar Hans vom Landsgut), he's a "G" litter so they asked use to use a G name. We wanted to name him Hans so we gave him that as his 2nd name. Gunnar means brave soldier, Hans means gift from God.
Bruzer, the pug, well, he looks like a little bruiser!

Some breeders give their litters letters to identify them. The 1st litter would be an A, 2nd B, etc. With German Shepherds, from German lines, they usually name all the dogs in that litter with a name that starts with the litter letter. (say that 3 times fast!) If you look on some of the pedigree database sites you'll see that a lot.

we named our poodle, Melon becuase her first nap was in a watermelon's box.
I named my maltese, Snowy coz he is as white as a snow.
Barny was named by his breeder. He arrived to our country with this name. I was thinking of naming him Dream after dreaming of owning one while I was asleep, but my little brother went crazy about his name as Barny.

Didi was b/c we couldn't pronounce the name originially gaven to her by her previous owner, so we changed it, and my little brother was watching Dexter's Lab on Cartoon Network, we named her after Dee Dee, Dexter's sister. Also it matched her daugther's name, Fifi who is still owned by the previous owner. Her nicknames are Minnie & Woogie (Didi's).

Pepe's orginially name was Peppy, we changed it to Pepe to match Didi's name. His nicknames are Peppy (funny how that works), Peppers, and Cottonball.

My cockatiels name are Pookie & Nookie, and my parakeet's name is Cece, she had a mate named Bebe, but he flew away. So basically a match theme going on for our pets. And my sister's new cockatiel's names are Pepito & Pepita.

Hannah picked out her name. I was having a very hard time picking names and I was naming them off the list I had narrowed it down to and when I said Hannah she perked her ears and barked. Lily was even harder because I was looking for a classy name, something cute, and had lists and lists and for some reason we couldn't find the right name. Then a couple days before we were going to get her we watched the movie "What About Bob" and one of the character's names was Lily and we knew that we had to name her that. She went for it right away and she loves her name now.

Colby already had the name "Cheesehead" when we got her, so we added Colby to make her "Colby Cheesehead". For May we wanted a spring name, so we called her Mayberry. Tippy is named "Tippy" because we just thought it was a cute name and she's got a white tip on her tail.
