Lily has been doing AWESOME housebreaking but lately she has been having some difficulties. Every night she goes out at ten o'clock and she will go #1 and 2. Well last night she just went pee and so she came back in and I set the alarm and I went out into the kitchen fifteen minutes later and she had pooped and peed by the door. So tonight I didn't want that to happen agian so I took her outside at ten o'clock and stood out in the cold and wind for fifteen minutes with her and she peed and then wanted to go in but I wouldn't let her. Well she didn't poop but after 15 minutes just stood by the door and if I brought her back in the grass she would just run back to the door so I brought her in and agian set the timer. Well five minutes later I went out in the kitchen and she had agian pooped, and I think peed, by the door agian. She is allowed free roam of the house when she is not crated and she didn't give any sign just go up and went potty. Usually she will circle or paw at me or something but nothing. And then since I yelled at the potty last night I guess she realized it wasn't suppose to be there today so she tried to eat it I think:eek:. It has been really windy these past two nights could that maybe what is causing her to have the accidents? I know she is only four months old but I know she knows better because she will paw or circle so I can see if she has to go out any other time. Oh well just venting she's a puppy and she's going to have accidents just she really has caught me off guard.

i think she's probably just not used to the cold and wants to avoid being out for long. just the fact that she's young doesn't justify her having accidents.

if i were you, i'd put her on a leash and walk her until she has finished her business. walking stimulates the bowels, so it usually doesn't take too long until they have to "go #2". :)

She is on a cable when she is outside, it is attached to our porch. I have been running around being an idiot with her when she was outside for the past couple days though and it seems to work. I'm hoping it's just the wind and cold. Maybe a jacket may help her. She hasn't had an accident today yet though, knock on wood.

Sorry for you Julie !!! She really shouldn't be doing this at her age! I don't know Poodles though ..... they may be harder to train than Goldens.

Poodles are very smart and she has picked up on housebreaking I think easier than any of our other dogs. She just gets set in her ways sometimes and if she doesn't want to do something then she is not going to do it. If she doesn't want to poop outside because it's too cold I don't think it matters how long I keep her outside because she has already made up her mind it's too cold to go potty outside. No accidents last night or today yet so hopefully she has remember the house is not the appropriate place to go. I'm still going to see if maybe a jacket would help keep her warmer, although then I'll have the added pain of putting it on and off everytime she goes inside and out.
