i breast fed my four children and have done so in public but very discreetly,
after all the babies need their feed when they are hungry and that does sometimes happen when you are out shopping etc.

I breast fed my daughter, but I would also express milk to put into bottles for the odd occassions were out, this was my choice, as when I did this it was 21 years ago and no where near as accepted to breast feed in public as it it these days. it caused no problem, was not painful, and saved me or anone passing by feeling uncomfortable.

My boss told me about a friend of their's whose four-year-old son was still breastfed and used to say things to his mother like, `Mummy please can I have some of that delicious milk from your fresh and healthy breast??'

I'm sorry, but that is weird, and strange, and that child is going to grow up with some very unusual ideas about things!
LMFAO!!! ewyyy!! LOL, I agree, when they are old enough to say they want it it is enough!!

It just shows how far away from nature the human race has become. It is as natural to breast feed as it is to pick your nose, and people do that without discretion on the highways all the time. I have no problem with a woman feeding her baby in public just as I have no problem with watching someone eat a sandwich at a bus stop. I dont really understand why people are offended by that or by profanity or ..any number of things that bother sensitive folks.

i didnt breastfeed due to having a breast op and still being sore and the funny thing was the hospital staff were all wearing badges with bottles and crosses over them, i went to parent classes and they said any questions on bottle feeding will not be answered so it works both ways with being discriminated against

I don't think it's right to refuse to answer questions about bottle-feeding because if the mother works or has a problem nursing, then what is she going to do? My friend could/would/did only nurse for 2 weeks, because she said it hurt her too much. So she switched to formula.

As someone mentioned before, I have less of a problem with mother nursing un-covered than I do with most of the current fashions, where the shirts are held together with a safety pin and some scotch tape. I'm not terrible modest and I'm not a prude, but I do believe in practibility. If you're going to wear clothes, then wear clothes. Not a couple of handkerchiefs.

I fully plan on breast-feeding my kids and I will do it in public with no shame. (probably will bring a cover, but that's for those jerk perverts). If somone is that uncomfortable with my nursing my child, then they shouldn't be staring at me to begin with. I avert my eyes when I see a woman nursing, just for the sake of privacy.

Why do you feel that you have to avert your eyes? Why would it seem any more uncomfortable than watching someone brush their teeth?

well first off, in ontario it is perfectly legal for a woman to walk around topless on hot days. SO that being said how can anyone find breast feeding offensive. Babies need milk not some powder some company threw together. I plan on breast feeding my children and I could care less about what people think about it. Ifa child sees that then the mother should educate that child on what is happening there. it is perfectly natural and isn't something that should be hidden from children like a bad word.

Of course once my children have teeth to bite with the breast feeding will stop HAHA

Well , I'm sure the good Lord gave me 31 1/2 AA for some other reason than to attract men !! So I put them to good use. BTW.. it shouldn't hurt !! I had engorged glands with my first , but it worked out. No pain/ no gain !

It's more out of respect to the mother than anything possible uncomfortablness(?) on my part. I'm sure she's harried enough as it is, she doesn't need some 'kid' staring at her. For all she knows, I'm one of those people thinking "OMG, that's so gross!!"

For the record, I don't stare at people brushing their teeth either. ;)

I didnt say to stare but just saying "hi, kinda cold out eh?" with a little wink should be painless for both parties. Thats what I tell my buddies if I see em urinating outdoors. Or try "hey that looks like a boob only smaller"

I dont stare at people brushing their teeth (tooth-for those from Tennessee)either. I was just using that as an example of not deliberatly averting ones eyes.

It's a natural thing .... but I do like to see it done modestly ....now when the poor infant drinks too quickly , chokes and burbs breastmilk all down your shoulder... I would prefer to be home !!!

Agreed, just as I think eating in public should not be done in a manner to demand peoples attention.

BTW Im a big fan of the ..shall we say.. less cumbersome chests.

Well, I didn't have the cumbersome chest.... and I did breast feed for a short time. I didn't feel comfortable breast feeding in public. I thought it was private moment. However, not everyone feels the way I do. I guess it is a personal decision. But, I feel it should be covered if in public. I don't really want to look at women breast and I dam% sure don't want to look at someguys' you know what, while he is peeing in public. Guess I am just old fashioned.

Well put !!! Since I had nothing to flaunt , I didn't . Have to admit though, I did enjoy what I had when I was feeding !! No padded bras ! While that was mentioned... I feel breast implants look awful !! If I was ' overly endowed " I'd reduce though. I'm basically against most plastic surgeries except for reconstruction from accidents. I am what I was given ...I know what I feel from the inside , which is what counts.
