Why I Won't Voluntarily Switch

The lady I get the EVO RM from locally ran out and her supplier is out and wasn't expecting a shipment for at couple of weeks, so she very sweetly -- and shrewdly -- brought me a couple of 5 pound bags of Merrick to tide me over. What she feeds her Golden and GSD.

She brought the Cowboy Cookout and Before Grain.

Well, to start with, none of my three are particularly enthused. Bimmer's back to me having to stand there and beg him to eat it and even Tallulah -- the dispose-all -- kind of chews it reluctantly and looks at me reproachfully.

The real kicker is Kharma. My iron-gutted, bullet proof lady. The one who can eat camarones a la diablo and refried beans without so much as a belch. Hard boiled eggs without a single toot. Chili. MY chili. Habaneros. Chinese and Italian -- at the same sitting. Who steals raw fruit and vegetables. The one nothing fazes. The pootless one.

This stuff gives her gas. Awful gas. She looks at me so sadly after she's passed it, even covers her pitiful face. And then there was the diarrhea the other night.

I appreciate Carole's effort, even if she did have the ulterior motive of wanting me to switch to Merrick, but NO FSCKING WAY.

I have never had any luck with Merrick either... they make their "flavors" so appealing... I really wanted it to work out but it just never does.

Yea, Merrick never worked for any of my dogs.

My dogs LOVE evo kibble.

In fact, while keeda eats both brands of kibble(I do a 50/50 mix with TOTW to cut cost), Midget actually picks the EVO out, then procedes to pick the TOTW kibbles up with his mouth and walk around the living room dropping them all the place. Keeda then follows behind him picking up all the pieces. It's really rather amusing. gotta love those corgis! :rofl1:

I bought a couple of cases of Merrick's canned cat food, and my cats would eat the gravy but wouldn't touch the meat. It's so weird because they eat everything and they looove canned food.

thats a shame...

my guys love merrick wet BUT in the dry food dont like the cowboy at all, they get grammies...other than pedigree (yuck) its the only kibble i can get the chis and cresties to eat!

Maybe we should stop spoiling them with things like EVO and raw meats. LOL. They should learn to appreciate that we take the effort to make sure they are fed everyday without worry! :lol-sign:

I've noticed that Merrick isn't too digestible, either.

I get the dogs canned Wing-a-Ling as an extra special treat occasionally... and last time I got it, BOTH of my boys were sick (from both ends) for days. I finally put the pieces together and realized that they always got upset tummies from Merrick. D: And both of them, Fozzie in particular, have great tummies. They can down 2 lb pig feet like it's nothinggg.

Merrick is one of the few I haven't yet tried with Sierra. I was considering it when I was buying food this week but decided on TOTW instead (apparently the better choice!!)

This is interesting to read. Neither of mine have ever been picky about food of any kind. You put it in the bowl, they happily eat it. If either of them don't chow down it means they are sick--really sick.

This is interesting. We usually keep Merrick canned on hand for when I'm too lazy to feed raw or have forgotten to defrost something. They love most, if not all, of the Merrick line.

Last time I bought canned, I bought a variety of different brands ( we get a pretty good deal, but 3 get the 4th free). So much gas the next day- I think it was Nature's Variety that I had fed. Yeah, so not skipping out next time -I'll go back to Merrick. Hmph.

Now, the last time I tried to give them kibble, that blew up in my face. Even Banzai has adjusted somewhat to raw.

lol your lucky Kharma tries to hold it in. When Sophie has gas, (you can hear it half the time) she does the deed and then looks at you like "deal with it"

I know a few dogs who got extremely sick on Merrick. Once they were off the food, they were fine within 24-36 hours.
