One of my dogs likes to go through the trash can and take out anything in it and scatter it across the room. It's very nasty and he only seems to do it when he's alone in a room (someone might be in a room near him though). Why might he do this? Is he bored or just likes trash?
There are good smells in there ! Don't blame him .... put the can where he can't get it. Chip never gets into the trash, but when Hunter's visiting Grammy, the can goes high !! Can't blame him though, he was a rescue .
They are born scavengers! It tends to get better as they get older though. Even Shiva doesn't go marauding through the garbage that often anymore. Of course, I've learned to just go ahead and let the dogs lick out any tasty containers before I put them in the trash . . .
To avoid this problem I went and got garbage cans that they cannot get into (stainless steel ones you need to step down on hard enough to open up)
I would not blame the dog, after all, most dogs I know if you set down a plate of your food right infront of them and then left the room, they would eat it. I think thats what it is for them
