Do you guys ever get this question? I got this question the other day and it actually stumped me. I have no reason why we have 5 dogs, they just kind of happened.... I can't imagine life any other way, honestly. It just struck me as an odd question to be asked.

My dad always asks me why I have so many animals when I could be spending my money on "better" things. My friend's BF asked me why I would get another dog and I told him the same reason he got a third car!!

Well I reallly wanted a dog, and got #1.
Then #1 needed a friend, and got #2.
Then moved to Texas, figured I'd be there awhile, I wanted another dog and had room, money, and time for it #3.
And then #4 was #3's little buddy and I couldn't leave her behind when I moved to Maine.

LOL Mer!

I havent actually gotten that question, but I've gotten the question "Why did you get another dog (Blaze)?" "Wasn't Lizzie enough?"

We had Major.
I wanted my own dog so I got Lizzie.
I wanted a dog that allowed me to do more, so i got Blaze.
My brother was getting old enough and wanted his own dog, so we got Jake.

"I bet 4 is alot of work!" - and had to tell people no.. not really. they really are a nicely well-behaved pack.

I just have one dog now.

When we had 3 for 13 years we allways heard the "why so many?", "isnt one enough?", "what do you need them all for?".

Why not have as many as you want IMO. all our dogs got health care they needed, they were fed, though it was a terrible food (olroy, but we knew no better), were excersised, brought on family picnics ect.

growing up when we had 3 dogs, we also had, 4 rabbits, 2 turtles, a hamster, 2 rats, a fish tank full of fish, 2 budgies, and 3 iguanas. And were always called the zoo. Oh well, all were looked after, none were ever rehomed (with the exception of one iguana. He hated my life, but loved my (at the time) boyfriend, so when said boyfriend and I broke up, I asked him to take him, where he lived until he passed) all lived to old age. were loved, played with, fed, taken out and about (car rides, walks in the park ect ect. And Im talking about the birds and lizards and rats lol)

All of them are passed one now, with the exception of 1 turtle, Mike in the sig. I cant wait for my welcome one day when I get to the rainbow bridge to collect my friends, what a welcome that will be lol

I only have 2, so no. LOL.

Although when one of the neighbors realized we had Juno, they said "what is wrong with you guys? Another one??" I don't think they knew that Molly had passed away though... but it's not a surprising response. In the 15 years I've known them, they've only had a total of 2 pets: a hamster and a rabbit lol.

When people ask my mother how many dogs we have, she starts by saying "We're starting a sleddog team" or "we're starting 2 flyball teams to compete against each other" then adds "so, we have 8." :p

I don't know WHY we have so many. I have the first of mine, Zoey, because after Tootsie, my sheltie, was layed to rest because of cancer, I wanted another small herding dog - insert Zozo. Then Bella was kinda a rescue but was gonna be my second agility dog, then that didn't work out, so I started looking and along came Psyche.

As for the other dogs in the house - they also just kinda happened. Other then Callie who I was FORCED to take. :p

I actually haven't gotten questions like that very often with my 3, but that's probably due to several factors:

- I work at a humane society, 3 dogs and a cats isn't anything unusual to coworkers with a dog and 5 cats or 4 dogs and 4 cats, or 9 dogs and a cat, etc. lol

- I teach dog training classes, so I my students understand that I'm a "dog person" and do stuff with all of them as I explain in my intro the first day of class.

- I don't take all three anywhere except hiking or walks around the neighborhood, usually it's just one at a time for ease of handling and because it's good one-on-one time for the individual dog who goes with me. :)

I do have to admit I LOVE the stares of amazement as people drive by all three of the pups sitting nicely at the curb while we're waiting to cross a street. I'm a tiny thing, so I think that some people are amazed that i can handle 3 and others are just impressed I can get them all sitting at the same time and for any length of time. :D

I don't get questioned so much about how many as I get, "your little lap dog is a WHAT?" :rofl1: It's an even better reaction than I used to get when I referred to Bimmer as my "little dog." ;)

When I go through the roll call of "Fila, GSD and APBT" people tend to back away from me. :D They don't ask why. They're afraid to.

I get that sometimes as we have 7 dogs here. The thing is me and my fiance live here with our two dogs, my gramma has her four, and my uncle and his wife live here with their puppy. I always just tell people we have them because it's rewarding no matter how much work it is and because we love them all dearly.
