This is my own fault for looking. I have avoided looking at the CL pet section for MONTHS. Then today I thought, "Oh, just a peek won't hurt. I'm only looking for reptile supplies anyways."

So I looked.

Found- Terrier/ Lab Mix

Free to a good home, I found shelby yesterday. I'm not sure what kind of dog she is. If I had to guess she is a Terrier Lab mix. She is 27lbs, not sure how old she is. She's at least 6 months old, because she's had a litter. She is timid around new dogs and humans, but is really friendly once she doesn't feel threatened. She gets along well with my two dogs and my 1 year old son. Please if your interested give me a call at #.

IT'S A GIRL MINI MORGAN WITH WHITE TOESIES!!

There is absolutely no way I can justify a new puppy(ish?) right now. :(

You'd think they would be posting the dog looking for the owner and not rehoming it right away.

Oh my gosh, she really does!!! What a sweetie pie face.

You know you posted to the wrong place if you don't want to be talked into a new puppy, right? ;)

I'd thought of that, too, and if I get myself worked up enough to email/call them, I was going to ask about that first. Maybe there is more to the story than what they posted... Who knows.

Man.. there are never ever pets on CL here ever. They are immediately flagged. Might be dangerous ;) I'd have a new obsession too.

Lost dogs, grooming, wanted pet accessories, kittens to new homes.. Once in a while there is a dog rehome but it disappears mighty fast. If there are dogs, there aren't many and not often.

We don't have the same sort of pet over population here though.. shelters are less packed, people don't give away dogs for free that often.

Roomie was looking at 'free' dogs when she eventually picked out Cider at a pet store.. she couldn't find any.

Oh wow--I think there must be 100 posts a day rehoming animals here. They flag everything BUT rehomed animals, it seems. (People want services posted to the pet services section, and kennels/collars/etc posted to the "for sale" section). Slightly overzealous flaggers...

TONS of animals for "rehoming here", too :(
And I look at it all the time...
A lot of people ask several hundred dollars to "rehome" their pets though

I've been slightly jealous looking before at other states' CLs to sometimes see cute cockers and such for rehoming for $50-100. I don't need another fur child but I get awfully tempted.

That bothers me too :( "$300 fee to cover cost of shots and vet care" on a 4 year old dog. That's not something that you deserve to have covered, asshat. You got the animal, you paid for the animal--you aren't a non-profit trying to recoup your costs.

Sorry for getting off topic, Maxfox! The pup is adorable - and you're right, a mini-morgan!

I WISH there were few animals on NC Craigslists. It's so depressing the number of animals on local ones.

If anyone sees an ad in NC and need a transport started, I don't mind doing the first leg.

I think I saw a really cute cocker ad there not long ago.....

The ad is still there. I want her sooooooooooooooooo bad, but I really can't. :( It doesn't matter how much encouragement you guys give... the fact of the matter is that we are leaving for vacation in a week, and we are having difficulty finding someplace that will take Morgan by himself... nevermind adding a second, unknown dog into the mix.

Also add in that hubby was recently laid off and is starting a new job, plus I'm on the job hunt... there are just too many other variables right now. Too, too many.

She is so cute, though. Poor girl...

There are always SO many dogs on our craigslist section for "rehoming." For instance:

orlando pets classifieds - craigslist

I emailed a little while ago (probably a month ago) about a cute little female chi being "rehomed." Her "rehoming fee" was $800 :yikes: You can get a chi from health tested, shown parents for that!!!

It's really hard when you find a dog that you think would be perfect for your family, and you can't get him or her. (I know!!) But I'm not quite ready for a second one yet, either, and (sadly) I suspect that there will be another perfect rescue dog when the time comes.
