Does anyone's vote really count though? The votes are taken, and your senator(s) is / are supposed to represent what your state said majority wise when THEY vote in the electoral college - and they don't always.

Well your vote tells the electors who to vote for and technically they could not vote that way but they do.

And the senators are not part of the electoral college?

Too young. Blah.
Ticks me off, my brother is 19 but he's not voting. He's a McCain supporter, but thinks it'd be a waste of time to vote since the democrats always win Minnesota.

Electors was what I was trying to think of. Senators was what came out, lol. Thanks. :)
Today is brain fart day. I've had words on the tip of my tongue all day and can't think of them.

I think it's funny -and sad in a way- that so many people don't think there vote counts.

How is that true? Obama is winning by a landslide.

I voted already. Of course for Obama. :)
Well I guess I haven't seen the latest landslide, but if you look at that world wide poll that I was talking about.. well you'd know what I was talking about. Every other country, the smallest amount for Obama is 60%, the rest is like 70-75%, however when you get to the US it's like 38% Mccain, 36% Obama.

So what I was saying was, it's interesting that it's only in the US that it is so divided, according to that poll.

You do wonder how much information other countries have about the candidates, though. We've had months of campaigning and debates to watch.

Ha! So have we since we get so many of your stations. :p Plus it's on the news regularly too. We saw the debates. Your economy is big news and effects the rest of the world so I wouldn't assume that people don't know much. Or... well you didn't assume :p ... but you know what I mean.

I only see Obama signs in people's yards, but I have only seen Mccain bumper stickers (On really expensive cars lol).
I've seen such a scramble of things... mostly McCain, though. My neighborhood is republican for the most part, one Obama sign that I've seen, and then a random Ron Paul one lol. There are a LOT of Obama bumper stickers in my school's parking lot... but people's yards are lined with McCain signs.

Ughhh I know! If these people don't want to vote--I would GLADLY take their spot. ;) Maybe in the grand scheme of things, your one vote doesn't do much... but is it really that hard to take some time out of your day to vote.

I find it sad. Too many people believe that.

If I thought that my vote would matter in any sort of way, then I might have made an effort to get registered. If we got rid of the electoral college, went back to paper ballots (electronic voting machines are FAR too buggy and easy to compromise... if they don't already come ****ed up from the factory) so that there's a paper trail, and I didn't live in a city that is so overwhelmingly pro-obama that no amount of campaigning by McCain or Barr would be able to do anything, then I might think that my vote -might- matter. But, as it is, my vote holds zero significance and thus there is no reason to waste my time to go stand in a line and waste my time.

I actually emailed Ellen today. I love her show and she doesn't often talk about politics but DOES advocate taht EVERYONE vote.

however today she announced that Sarah Palin spoke out against gay marriage and that she didn't like that.

I emailed her. She probably won't see it because A LOT of people email her but I emailed her anyway and politely and kindly let her know that I saw what she said today and just wanted to make her aware if she wasn't already that obama and Biden ALSO do not support gay marriage and have spoken out against it. Biden talked about it in the VP debate.

So while I understand taht she is upset at Palin for that reason... I hope she realizes taht she doesn't have an advocate in this election.

I know... it's stupid that I even bothered.

but I'm a stay at home mom who can't vote lol.
