When I was a kid my parents breed Nikki, the family Shetland Sheepdog, once. I think I was in 1st or 2nd grade. She had two pups. We had like 4 families on a 'waiting list', so that was interesting.
Nikki has been gone for a couple of years now, but we still get Christmas cards from the puppies families most of the time. Usually with a picture of Santa with a Sheltie
It always puts a smile on my face, and a tear in my eye.
But that was
way before I knew anything about health testing, BYBs, anything like that... I think we were very lucky nothing went wrong, and the pups have always been pretty healthy.
