Walking, grooming, feeding, playing, training, poo pick up etc who's shoulders does it fall on? Is it different on certain days, different depending on the dog or are you flying solo?

Bandit was mine way before my relationship started and David has never done anything except feed him. Arya was supposed to be his but he's only taken her for jet shots. I've done all the potty training walking and training. Obviously I am the dog chore lady. Not that I mind as I love doing all things dog.

Ours is split quite well.

I do all the training, showing, hobby stuff and I am more ready to walk them places if I have a day going spare, play with them, I do nails if they need doing, suggest wormer, suggest vet trips etc.

He feeds them, picks up poo, plays with them, and has them during the day. He will worm, bathe, brush on my suggestion.

Oh and he is chief tick remover if they get one. I can't go near them.

He feeds the dogs 99% of the time.

The cats, hamster, two rats, two gliders, and dog grooming/bathing/nails (he holds them if needed) is up to me. He only had Nikko when we got together, and really the other pets are my hobby so I'm perfectly fine with it. We both work on the dogs training/manners and I couch him on how to get them to do what he is asking for. He said something about wanting to be involved with the gliders yesterday, so we will see. Pretty sure I will have to do all of the ick things with them still lmao. If I wanted help with some of the zoo, I could get his help. I'm just so anal about their care that I don't mind doing it.

I do the vast majority of dog care at our house and I don't mind at all. DH pays for all dog-related expenses without a squawk. The kids, all in college, assist me if I need help with Aidan.

Have 4 kids is a big help. Aidan is a real party animal, and he loves it when there are a bunch of kids here. He recognizes the sound of the cars of his favorite visitors and waits at the window for them as he hears their car engines in advance. All the visiting kids play with Aidan and treat him well.

My kids are thoroughly educated about the responsibilities of dog ownership and issues concerning dogs, on an ongoing basis because of my interest in all things canine. This is important, I think, because they will not participate in unsavory practices when they move out and perhaps become dog owners. They also come to me when they think a dog they've met is being mistreated. Usually the dog has what I call an average owner -- not mistreated, but not receiving top quality care. They have saved one dog by alerting me to it's plight.

I adore Aidan, and I love having him in my life.

Me, 99.9% of the time. I basically do everything "house" related in general (laundry, vacuuming, cleaning, cut the grass, etc.).

He'll let the dogs out if for some reason I'm not home and ask him to, but it usually ends with me walking in to muddy paw prints on my (very white) carpet, so it's not really worth it. Even when I'm super sick, I do everything. I don't really care though.. I have dogs, he has cars. I don't really.. want him to be super involved with the dogs, it's my hobby and I like that we have different ones. I think if we were both involved with dogs we'd end up killing each other LOL.

I do everything for Roxie, with the exception of her being let out if I'm not home and she needs to be, and eveyone plays with her (with the exception of tug-no friends or visitors are allowed to play tug). Plus my sister will run her some days (although she usually asks me if she can run Roxie during the hottest time of the day, and I have to make her wait till it cools off, or just not let her- my sister complains that Roxie is going too slow on those days, what do you expect? I also have to put the Musher's Secret on, otherwise my sister does not apply it correctly and Roxie usually can't be run or walked for like a week). It's something I needed my sister to do last year, when I hurt my shoulder. I doubt if Roxie will go for runs with her this year.

Sometimes my sisters will try to teach Roxie a trick, and I give them suggestions because their body language and what they're trying to put out is very muddled, so Roxie just isn't picking it up and getting over-excited, lol. She gets over-excited, offers everything she knows, and ends up getting a tantrum (my sisters are both in hs lol) because she's not "paying attention"... Trust me kiddo, she's trying. You just make no sense and she's not a trained monkey- they (sisters) don't understand dog language at all and think I do magic. I think they've gotten a lot better now though, with at least teaching Roxie small things like "crawl".

See, Roxie was SUPPOSED to be a family dog, since the last dog was "mine". But Roxie clung to me, took a few months before she would even PLAY with the rest of the family, so everything fell on me. I mean, I don't mind- who wants to be responsible for a family dog that only plays with one person? It was extremely stressed that first year, loads of tantrums and fights and what not. In the end it was worth it. We've got an excellent dog and I'm good with the system we have- especially since Roxie's got issues with other dogs. I don't mind others coming on walks with me, but I don't let them take Roxie for walks without me. Runs are done off country roads though, so I don't worry.

Majority of 'dog stuff' is mine. Ben has a passing interest in Hudson, and that's OK with me. I do the feeding, keeping the water bowl full, taking him outside, getting his crate ready for the day, taking him on walks, etc.

Ben did go along with us to puppy K & Basic Obedience, so there's that.

I take care of everything for the dogs, Sis takes care of everything for the cats and we both take care of the horses. I will occasionally feed our oldest cat (she gets fed whenever she demands it, because, well, she's OLD and Sis is trying to keep weight on her). Sis will hand out the occasional treat if Murphy asks politely, but that's about it.

I feed, bathe, clean ears, trim nails, train, do veterinary care, buy the dog food/toys/medication, and basically do the general upkeep/wellbeing.

He picks up the poop, plays with Abrams, and brushes Cynder. Before we met, Cynder was obviously his dog and he did the general upkeep with her (free fed her, kept her nails ground, bathed her when she was stinky, and crammed a benadryl down her throat when her allergies got bad), but he was more than happy to relinquish the general upkeep stuff to me.

And when Abrams was a pup and I was working, but he was home, he did a lot of the early house breaking/crate training/name recognition with him, which was very nice, although he didn't like the house breaking portion of it.

Basically, he would be more than happy to do anything with the dogs should it be required - I'm just picky about how it's done and when it's done, so he let's me take charge and delegate.

Primarily me. My husband really only does when I am not available (at work, out of town) or when I ask him to.

Honestly, I'm fine with things that way. We wouldn't have dogs at all if it wasn't for me, and it maintains a basic level of consistency. And... I like them and doing things with and for them.

We split things. DH does all of the animal care in the morning while I shower, including feeding and a short walk. He also takes Watson out for a potty break before bed.

I come home at lunch, feed him dinner, and take him for a long evening walk.

I do most of the grooming but DH helps if I need an extra hand. I do all training classes beyond puppy class, but that's because dog classes are my hobby and not his.

All of the animals are mine. I has all 3 rabbits prior to the relationship. Summit we got together but I have always done everything. When I got Kili I didn't ask DBF I just told him we were getting a puppy. He didn't even move back in with us until Kili had been here a month and a half (we lived separately for 6 months after I graduated while he looked for a job near mine). In fact, until 2 months ago when I went on a business trip and was gone for 6 days he had never looked after the daily needs of the dogs. I even considered boarding them for the week instead of leaving all 5 animals in his care. Lol

Me me me. My mom technically feeds them most of the time, but I get their food prepared ahead of time so all she has to do is set a bowl in front of them.

I live at home, but 99.9% me. He's my dog, I got him FOR me. Occasionally if I ask, gonna be late, etc, my step-dad will take him outside. Or if we're at my dads house, my dad is usually up before me and will let him outside in the yard to potty, and feed him a morning snack, by his own will because he loves his granddog. lol.

But I do all grooming (teeth, nails, cleaning up eyes, etc), bathing, feeding, walking, every day care. Vet visits, grooming visits, parks, stores, and whatnot.

I do most of the work with Feist, but my mom and sisters are awesome about helping out with her. I pay for all her things, take her to the vet, etc. :)

Me 100%

the only exception is if I have a class or I am staying somewhere overnight. I'll ask my brother "Hey two weeks from Saturday can you watch my dogs? Feed them and let them out and stuff?"
And then I have to remind him like everyday :rofl1: He doesn't mind watching them at all, but I always do everything for them so he needs reminded since he doesn't have to worry about it any other time ;)

We have a pretty even split... of all our household chores, now that i think about it.

It sometimes depends on our schedules - when Mike doesn't have morning classes, I give everyone breakfast and let the dog out to potty. He usually feeds them dinner, but if he isn't able to for some reason, I feed them when I get home. He takes the dog for walks on leash more often because he's home in the afternoon. I am usually the one to take him on off leash hikes. He will wash bedding, I'm more likely to give the dog a bath and clip his nails. We both pick up the poop in the yard. Depending on schedules and the reason, we both do vet visits.

One area that isn't currently shared is training. I do all of that. Once Jaeger knows the trick, he learns the cue. When we (finally) get our puppy, he is going to be equally responsible for basic manners training. I'm trying to get him to teach Jaeger a new trick on his own, so that he has some experience with clicker training before she gets here.

I do the majority of the feeding and food prep. Um, poop pick up is about even. My honey is a kick-ass foundations trainer. I do crate bedding washing, van clean outs. We do nails together. Share bathing duty. I tend to brush more.

Yeah.
