I do everything for Roxie, with the exception of her being let out if I'm not home and she needs to be, and eveyone plays with her (with the exception of tug-no friends or visitors are allowed to play tug). Plus my sister will run her some days (although she usually asks me if she can run Roxie during the hottest time of the day, and I have to make her wait till it cools off, or just not let her- my sister complains that Roxie is going too slow on those days, what do you expect? I also have to put the Musher's Secret on, otherwise my sister does not apply it correctly and Roxie usually can't be run or walked for like a week). It's something I needed my sister to do last year, when I hurt my shoulder. I doubt if Roxie will go for runs with her this year.
Sometimes my sisters will try to teach Roxie a trick, and I give them suggestions because their body language and what they're trying to put out is very muddled, so Roxie just isn't picking it up and getting over-excited, lol. She gets over-excited, offers everything she knows, and ends up getting a tantrum (my sisters are both in hs lol) because she's not "paying attention"... Trust me kiddo, she's trying. You just make no sense and she's not a trained monkey- they (sisters) don't understand dog language at all and think I do magic. I think they've gotten a lot better now though, with at least teaching Roxie small things like "crawl".
See, Roxie was SUPPOSED to be a family dog, since the last dog was "mine". But Roxie clung to me, took a few months before she would even PLAY with the rest of the family, so everything fell on me. I mean, I don't mind- who wants to be responsible for a family dog that only plays with one person? It was extremely stressed that first year, loads of tantrums and fights and what not. In the end it was worth it. We've got an excellent dog and I'm good with the system we have- especially since Roxie's got issues with other dogs. I don't mind others coming on walks with me, but I don't let them take Roxie for walks without me. Runs are done off country roads though, so I don't worry.
