We took Whizzy to the equine hospital. He started to crash late this morning. It was tricky to find someone to trailer him. Its much easier to toss a dog in a car and go than it is a horse, even when its a small one.

A local farmer dropped everything to take him. Poor guy had a hard time walking let alone getting in the trailer. We bedded the trailer down well with straw, but he managed to keep his feet for the ride.

He got to the clinic, took 3 of us to get him to a stall where he lay down. Poor guy is in a lot of pain. I have never seen such sunken eyes.

Its also an early weaning. His mom bumped into him this morning and knocked him down and then stood on him. bad mom. He hasn't been nursing in days and she doesn't seem to care....

So lots of vibes please :(

No, and according the vet we won't likely ever know whats causing the diarrhea. Hopefully we can get it stopped. In the mean time they will have him on IV fluids, which is the big deal as its the dehydration thats a killer.

Thanks everyone (and those in chat) for sending vibes.

His blood pressure is really low, he got 2 litres of IV fluid and more meds (not sure what meds those were atm) He is weak, and his breathing is laboured. Hopefully the fluid will start to help him soon.

Thanks everyone. Mark has been at the clinic all afternoon. Darien and I went to visit him, and we are just back. I am going back out for 8pm to bring some food from home and in case his catheter has slipped.

Poor little guy. Is that how he got the ouchie on his forehead? I seen that pic on facebook with his head in Dariens lap. And was wondering how he got that.
Hope he gets better soon!

I'm so sorry. Rest in Peace little Whizzy... it was a rough ride for him, but at least now he doesn't have to be in any sort of pain or discomfort. Poor little thing

Thanks everyone. Its so hard to believe he is gone. I know he was just a little baby (he would have been three months tomorrow) But something that is that large (hundreds of pounds) should be more robust......

He will be dearly missed, he was such a good boy, so well mannered and social.
