Wow that is crazy. Such a tragedy. She was such a fixture during the early 90's. Hard to believe that shes gone

She was extraordinarily talented in her youth. Sadly, her drug use ravaged her body and her career making her fairly irrelevant in the last several years. RIP Whitney. Your talents are missed.

If it wasn't from drugs now it was likely due to all the drug abuse years ago... I'm sure it did serious damage to her heart...

Very sad... yet another incredibly talented person basically throwing their life (and talent) away. =<

The act of engaging in drugs is the point when people consider you are throwing away your talent. Largely it is not a reaction to hurt the drug user but a result of being hurt by the drug user.

I have used my fair share of drugs and my ex is still a heavy user. I know my way around addictions and it is not unfair to call it a waste of talent nor throwing away talent, the later especially when there is minimal effort towards getting clean.

This sucks. I was saddened to hear the news. Wasn't a HUGE fan or anything but what a talent she brought to the world. RIP Whitney.

Oh, how sad. And so young. I listened to a lot of her music as a kid in the late eighties, early nineties, so I guess I was a fan at the time. She was very talented; I always wondered why she wasn't still making music.

RIP.

I read last night that she was struggling with her music, as the drugs/drug use had a large negative impact on her voice. It was said that her voice was raspy, and she did not have near the range she used to.

What I find sad is seeing so many people rely on outside people to validate their self-worth. It seems to be a problem everywhere, but especially for singers and actors (both industries where people lose their personal identities to their roles and abilities).
