Hi, we've got a three-year-old mongrel and she's been with us for most of her life. She's very sweet natured and generally obedient. She sleeps in the kitchen, but often scratches at the door and/or whines at night. Sometimes she'll just do it for a bit and then go to sleep. Sometimes she starts doing it in the middle of the night. We've been trying to ignore her so as not to encourage the behaviour and it's pretty persistent. Sometimes it turns out she really does need the loo (though we do take her out before bedtime). Usually, there's no reason that we can figure out though. She also wakes up earlier than we do and starts doing the same then, generally continuing until we let her into the garden even if she isn't desperate for the loo.

One thing is that we always move her bed as there's no room for it in the kitchen during the day.

Any tips would be much appreciated. thanks
