I didn't want to hijack the other thread so I just made my own. IF you were to get an exotic pet, what would it be? This is all hypothetical of course.

The only big cat that I'll ever consider is a bobcat. I've always found them fascinating, not to mention if one were to attack me I'd actually have a chance.:D I read that they mark more than some of the other bigger cats, and they have an aggressive play behavior. They have a cross between a cat and a bobcat called the Pixiebob. Though really, I'm not to interested in owning any type of big cats.

Now I wouldn't mind owning a Fennec Fox. If I ever were to push the envelop, this would be it. They just sound like little characters. The more I read about them, the more I love them. They remind me of a papillion.

Well, if it's hypothetical, can I say I'd own a Pegasus? Or maybe a dragon. I'd love to fly into town to run my errands on the back of one of those. How awesome would that be? ;)

Definately fennic fox. I think Luna looks like one. :)

I've always been fascinated with sugar gliders too, they're really cute and becomming more popular as pets (not sure if you classify them as "exotics," I haven't read the other threads). Of course I'm in no hurry to get one, I hear they're a lot of work and I have my hands full ATM. ;)

Hypothetical, as in I have unlimited resources?

If so I'd get a pair of caracals.

Wouldn't even try having one now, not if you paid me.

My mom's favorite animals were always Fennec foxes then she went out and got papillons. I've always thought Mia + Fennec Fox would be hilarious. The only thing that turns me off from them is I hear they're almost impossible to potty train.

Probably a Red Kangaroo. We raised an Agile Wallaby for a while, her name was Sheila, we loved her.
I'd like to do native marsupial rescue when I'm older so one day but I'd want a bit of experience before I took on one of these, they are too big and strong to not understand them. I don't even talk to the big reds in zoo's because I don't know enough about roo behaviour.

a gambian rat, no contest.

look how cute!
Someone on a rat forum I belong to owned Matisse. We always looked forward to Matisse pictures and were all very sad when he passed on:(

I would love a pouched rat, just not feasible having one with a terrier. It's also very hard to find them right now, apparently. There was the ban for a bit and, although it is now lifted, apparently not many have breeding animals. I'd love a Prairie Dog though. Don't think they're allowed here though:(

I already have sugar gliders, which are pretty exotic. Other than that, though, I would love a fox. I've been watching the news on the Russian domestic fox project for quite some time now. I've also been researching Fennecs quite a bit. In either case, though, it will be a loooooooooooooong time before I ever get one. I have enough trouble keeping my one hyper-intelligent/easily bored cat in check, I don't need to keep track of a fox at the same time. :p Someday, though!

ETA: BTW, our cats are also at least part Bengal, if not all Bengal. So we've got some more exotic covered there, too. LOL!

ETA2: For a more unrealistic exotic pet desire... I totally want a pine marten or a wolverine. For serious.

Hmmm... a red fox.

Or, if I had unlimited resources and it were able to be 100% tame like a domesticated cat, a leopard.

I'd also love a Giant Panda, if we're being entirely unrealistic ;)

OMG, those squirrels look like little anime rodents!! So CUTE! :D

I currently do have an exotic pet. He's a Short Tailed Opossum. But, considering they are used in labratory research, I'm not sure he's an "exotic" exotic, if you know what I mean. I'd put him on the same scale as a Sugar Glider or Richardson Ground Squirrel.

But here are some that I think would be fun to own, if I ever have the right kind of enviornment for one:
Genet:

Skunk:

Pantagonian Cavy:

Oh, and a Gambian Rat. That would be totally cool.
