Khana and I went to a luau at the local college (my sister works there). Khana had a great time socializing. I wanted to do some obedience practice with her around all the distractions, but the running kids and the roast pig were too much and she couldn't concentrate .. *L*
She met dozens of people and was petted frequently, which she just loves. I was surprised at how many people petted her without even asking if she was friendly (of course she was wiggling and happy to see everyone, so maybe it was just that obvious). One guy crouched down and put his face right in hers and said "ooh, what a pretty girl you are!". She loved it, but really - how smart is it to put your face right into the face of a strange dog?
My niece and nephew each got to walk her around for a bit, and it turned into a bit of a comedy when Khana went one way around a tree and my nephew Ethan went the other way. He's FOUR and thinks he can do everything himself. When I tried to help untangle them, he said "I CAN DO IT!!" so I let him figure it out. He very carefully stepped over the leash and around the tree, and then told Khana "don't do that again!". She didn't listen, of course! *L* And at one point he wanted to go left and she went right and he ended up on his butt with the MOST indignant look on his face .. *LOL* .. I told my sister that he'd finally met his match in stubbornness!
There were other dogs there and one that snapped at its owner. My Mom was watching my niece and made sure to keep her away from that dog (Mom saw it snap). I don't know why people bring dogs with poor temperaments into places where there are a lot of people and other dogs too.
Khana was a good representative for her breed and everyone really enjoyed her. One woman asked me to save her some dog fur as she does weaving and wants to put something in the fair, so I took her card and I'll get ahold of her as the dogs shed more. I have a constant supply of hair!
So where did you take your dog this week?
