Leo is from what you guys would call a backyard breeder. Kind of an old-fashioned yokel, I don't even think he had all his teeth.

When I was about 4, we got Peaches from the pound. We got him mid-late march, and my brother's birthday is march 30th, so he said Peaches was his dog, but i named him. He was some kind of terrier mutt. He lived to be 16.

I got Jager from the pound too. Because I really want a GSD puppy as my next dog, it will probably have to come from a breed rescue - unless i get really lucky and happen to find one at an animal shelter or as an "oops" dog.

(ingrid's definition of "oops dog": someone's b!tch gets out a month before the owners plan to get her fixed - or they are just stupid and don't get her fixed, and she comes home pregnant, the people go "oops" and put an ad in the paper for puppies free to good home and then get their dog fixed. The way i see it, the owners didn't want those puppies, so if i don't take one, they'll probably end up in a shelter/the pound anyway)

Maddie is from a decent breeder. Now that I've learned more from Chaz, I probably would've picked a better one, but at least she wasn't from what I'd call a BYB/puppy mill

Missy is from what I believe to be a gassing pound . . .

My future dogs will probably be from rescues or pounds... Maybe a reputable breeder, but right now puppies are too much work for me, so probably not :p lol

Dante is from a responsible show breeder, and I'm fairly certain all of my future dogs will be from good breeders as well. The shelters in my country are few and far between, with not many purebreds in them (no offense to mix breed owners, but they're not for me. I need to know what is in a dog.)

Granduer from a breeder in Belgium.

Sara was one of 23 ACD puppies in the bed of a truck @ a local horse sale.

Minty (our new kitten) Sara and Granduer brought home while scouting the mountain.

I should also add that Harry (RIP) came from the same breeder as Beau and Rose. Rosie (RIP) came from a breeder that I honestly don't have a clue what you'd call her. A BYB most likely, but she worked her shelties on a farm. No testing or any of that. Rosie was going to be a bigger girl- 35 lbs or so. Shack (RIP) came from an oops litter that my mom's co-worker had. His GSD got out and mated with what we think was a golden. He sold all the pups as purebred GSDs except the runt, which he was going to drop off at the pound, so we got Shack for free. Pete (RIP) was from a hunting kennel in the late eighties. Did they even do health testing back then? I'm not sure the name, but they were well known and he was papered. (I was little when we got him).

Oh and I researched Nikki on my own after losing Rosie. I picked her out off of a newspaper add in the local paper. (I did such a great job, right? LOL)

Zoe was from a friend that was in the middle of a divorce, didn't know the first thing about dogs, and didn't really want the puppy her ex husband brought home.

My next dog will come from a reputable breeder.

Middie came from my neighbors who had him tied up. He was bred by their neighbors because they had two grossly overweight, out of standard, unhealthy springers they wanted to breed who roamed loose without collars (these people have their own business... money is not an issue here, they just fenced several acres to buy three cows.. no idea why they could spay/neuter and buy a goddamn fence and some freaking collars). However, his mom tangoed with a stray instead of the boy she was "supposed" to mate with. My guess is that they were separating them and put her outside and him inside, as that is what they usually do. Real smart, huh?

Probably cause they were too cheap to buy her a diaper. :p

Anko came from the animal shelter. Tengu was stray. Since then we've just had fosters. Most of them were found stray and brought to the shelter, but got kennel cough and needed to be fostered out.

Next dog we are getting is a borzoi from Rosehill Windhounds. My husband is still torn between getting one of the littermates from the litter we are waiting on, or getting a scottish deerhound from Caerwicce since they are planning on a litter at the same time as Rosehill.

Both of my dogs came from rescue as puppies - they were they result of "oops" litters that the owners couldn't be bothered to find homes for. My next dog will come from a responsible breeder. That won't be anytime soon, though; I think two dogs at a time is enough for me.
