My dog Zippy had surgery 8 weeks ago on his belly and pelvic area. They had to surgically shave the whole back half of him bald---he also has a shaved bald patch where his IV was hooked up. He is a Manchester terrier who has a thin short black shiny coat like a Doberman. Zippy has healed up wonderfully well and is back to running around----But it has now been 8 weeks and hardly any of his coat has grown back where it was shaved----Does anyone have any experience with this or how long it usually takes to grow a normal short coat back? Thanks

What are you feeding him? Nutrition plays a role in how quickly his hair will grow back.

Hi Thanks for the responses. He is eating Canidae and missing link supplement. I guess it just takes lots of time--It just seems my horses coats always grew in a lot faster!:)

My dog was spayed about 7 months ago and you can still slightly see where her fur on her stomach hasn't fully come back in yet.

Yep, they do look funny shaved LOL! Zippy's coat is gradually coming in and his unshaved coat is sooo shiny on Canidae and Natural Balance kibble. I think he will have it all back by spring--its funny how it grows in odd sections. Of course I'm just so happy the little guy has recovered that I wouldn't care if he looked like a checker board forever!

Well, we had a Manchester Terrier, and he was a Drop-off. He actually was flung from a moving vehicle into my neighbors driveway. After this incident, he had actuall skid marks on his "behind" area. I'd say his fur grew back in a matter of about 2-3 months.....Good Luck with your Manchester!!! They're great! Mine, Sparky, was mixed with Min-Pin. :D
