When good pets go bad...

A HATE this show. The episode I watched today has 4 PIT BULL attacks on it alone.

The attack thats on right now, a woman owns two pit bulls. The dogs get loose and chase a cat into an elderly ladies home, and turns on the woman. The dogs had a long history of violence, but nothing was ever done about it in the past. The owner was never charged.

Second one was a pit bull in a van that was pulled over. The dog goes ballistic when the cops get into a physical scuffle with the dogs owner. The dog jumps out and attacks the police... pulling one away from its owner. Obviously the dog was only trying to protect its loved one. Police nearly shot the dog, but one police officer successfully pulled him away until AC got there. I am sure the dog was later PTS.

The third one was a pit bull who had a nut case owner. The owner sicked her dog on animal control. Before that the owner sicked her dog on her landlord and 6 year old daughter. This woman has trained the dog to attack under command.

Missed the 4th attack. Dog running loose yet again.

Anyone see this show? They say that 5 million dog attacks happen every year, but the only ones they talk about are the pit bull and rottweiler ones. Those are the only two breeds I've seen on this show. I do like how they say its the owners fault, but they are still sending such a horrible image about one or two specific breeds. If that many attacks happen every year, please do not make it look like pit bulls are behind all of it. Too much to ask?

I know its all for shock value. Thats what these shows are all about. :(

Ok, so now they just added a GSD attack and border collie attack. Both of which were police dogs. Ack.

One of the things to do is make a list of the show's sponsors and write them and let them know you will NOT being using their products as a result of their underwriting such trash.

I really hate the trend of reality tv. Basically, they get the footage and then get comments. The failure here is to address the underlying problems--which goes back to poor socialization, training, and sometimes genetics--not to mention irresponsible owners.

I don't even watch these shows because I don't want to support them in numbers :)

I hate when TV does that *sigh* even when they do it without saying breeds. I was watching this one show, i forget the channel, it's usually about wild animal attacks and the show was on wolf attacks but they showed a dog attack because of something about pack mentality or dogs in packs being more likely to attack, I was not watching it I was flipping through and I saw it and they were doing a dramatization. This kid had been chased down by a "pack" of loose dogs and attacked (did not mention breed). Of course in the dramatization they showed like 12 dogs attacking the kid, all but three were pit bulls, the ones that were not were like a Rottie, lab and I think a Dogo. but seriously, why couldn't they have just shown some mutts.

Then I wonder, these dogs have all been trained for TV right? what trainer in their right minds would allow their dog to be portrayed like that especially if their breed is constantly on the edge of being banned and killed, why would they spread that for their own dogs/clients who are probably the sweetest things?

The same people that let their rottweiler portray a vicious guardbeast in the movie "P12". The rottweiler has a pretty big part in the movie as the psychotic security guard's loyal guardbeast. It wasn't a bad movie, but it could have been done just fine without a guard dog. I even watched the making of and stuff to see if they would say anything about the dog, and nada.
