Right now Vixie is small for a Corgi and she's already 13 months old. (Yes, I know before I told you she was 10 months, but that's because I was told wrong). She weighs about 16-17 lbs. Is it possible she's still growing or are dogs full grown at the age of one?

gosh that depends on breed, line within the breed, and environment...as well as a ton of other stuff.

13" Beagles tend to be "done" heightwise at what....6-10mos while a 15" of the same breed...can grow past 12-18mos!

Akitas grow til at least 3-5 YEARS of age...

In general smaller dogs mature sooner...but again...dependant upon so many things...exactly when they are "done" can be a real crapshoot.

Oo, that makes sense.. that's similar to how people grow, too.

What is HS and AS NYD? I haven't been to Ikea yet, but I want to go. Did you like it? Why were you in Orlando?

^agreed.
Corgis are usually done filling out by 2 years of age.
Izzy was filled out by around 18 months, and I'm still waiting for Frodo to finish filling out and he turned 2 yesterday.

Another thing to remember, many breeds you should be able to easily feel ribs to know they are healthy, with corgis it should be a little bit tougher, the most common thing I've heard from corgi people is it should feel like there is two slices of cheese between your hand and the ribs once they are filled out :lol-sign:

Oh, okay, lol. Yeah, I went to the Humane Society over there (you're talking about the one by the Millenia Mall, right?) before we got Carlie and almost took home some sort of Corgi mix, but she was so scared and bit anyone that picked her up, so I was hesitant to take her home.

also, there are a lot of huge corgis in the world, and they shouldn't be huge. my female is 21 pounds, and although that is a little under breed standard, it's really not all that small for the breed.

I would love how good it'd be to see a dog like that change and feel safe around humans, but I wasn't ready for all the possibilities that might come with a dog like that.

I don't think I've ever seen a huge Corgi. What do you consider huge? The approximate weight for a female Corgi is 25 lbs, so anything a little below or a little above that is fine as long as they don't exceed 28 lbs.

I like the size of Vixie now, but I was just curious if it's possible she's still growing at her age... I guess I'll just find out! :)

Ada got her height by the time she was about 7 months old, her weight by the time she was about 10 months. She more or less looked like an adult at 5 months of age (she matured FAST!)

Mine too, corgipower! I like 'em on the smaller side.

4 months old:
