Lately, one of my dogs is on restricted exercise. So he won't get lonely, I have had all 3 dogs sleeping on the first floor. (I sleep upstairs.) Well, this results in a better night's sleep for me because I'm not being awakened to let my female out to potty at 4 am. But, instead, she poops by the back door and I have to clean it up in the morning.

So, would you prefer the sleep, or poop clean-up?

I'd prefer to train my dog so she doesn't poop in the house, regardless. ;) I love sleep and I haaaate poop, so that's my answer.

I'd sacrifice the sleep, no question lol. I don't want a dog habituated to soiling the house and I don't like waking up to poop inside.

I wish I could train it, but she has had stomach issues since the beginning. I managed to find a food to keep her poops solid, at least. After 8 years of living with my little insane girl, I pretty much have gotten used to her little problems. And I am really liking getting some sleep at night.

I'm sure most people would have given up on this dog after the first month, if they lasted THAT long!

Well if it was just poop and solid poop at that and it was not on carpet and I had a dog like yours Black Puppy, I probably would just rather clean it up in the morning. ha ha But I really do love my sleep.

Does she always go in the same place? Maybe you could put something on the ground, so that your clean up is easier? Like those bed covers for little kids?

I wouldn't want to create an indoor potty habit, I'd be afraid she'd start going inside at other times.

If you don't think she can hold it I'd put down a puppy pad or something.

I'd probably litter box train in your case BlackPuppy, or come up with a secure spot outside she could access overnight.

I would rather get up, i hate the smell of poop in the house. Thankfully mine are all really good about letting me know if they need to go at night

My dogs would rather sleep than poop so I am lucky, I guess in having the best of both worlds.

Of course....there have been exceptions when something went wrong with their digestion or what have you. Then I most definitely get up to clean. I've been known to break out the carpet shampooer in the wee hours when Lyric was so sick. But mainly, these two sleep longer than I do and don't have to go normally until later after we all get up.

I'd have to get up..the smell would get me up regardless lol so might as well just get up and let the dog out.

I am really sensitive to smells. I wouldn't be able to deal with a litter box/potty pads/indoor bathroom system for pets.. it would drive me nuts.

I get up at 430 for work anyways so I'd get up for sure. Even if it were on the weekends I can go back to sleep really easily. I hate cleaning up pet messes.

If I could guarantee it was confined to an easily sterilizable surface (crate tray, tiled floor, etc) I'd sleep. If there was any chance of it being on the carpet, I'd be getting up.
