Whats with the barking?

Gypsy has just recently started barking and trying to get my attention alot for no apparent reason. She used to sleep through the night and wake me up around 6 am to be let outside. Now she barks and paws at me for no apparent reason throughout the night. At first I thought she just wanted to be let outside but then she won't go. The level of attention and affection she gets hasn't changed so I'm not sure why she's doing this. But I really wish it would stop!!

Has this happened to anyone before? How can I stop it?

She's probably just wide awake and wants you to play with her, and from what you say, your giving that to her . Do you exercise right before she goes to bed, or have a play session?

We usually play as soon as I get home in the afternoon and go for a walk. Later in the evening I'll toss the frisbee with her for a while. She goes to sleep at a normal time too.

I guess I just find it strange that this just recently started happening. I can't think of any major changes in her life. Maybe she just doesn't need as much sleep as she used to (she just turned one).

Barking at night

Here's one thought-could there possibly be a critter of some kind wandering around your yard? Coyote? Stray cat? Even a mouse inside the house? Many critters come out at night & we might not be aware of this,but our dogs are gonna smell or hear it 'fer sure!

Also, try IGNORING this behavior if possible. Might just be trying for attention.

P.S. One of the things I'm very grateful for is the fact that Rags sleeps so well through the night,he wakes me up between 5-6 am every day!
