I love picking AKC names, it's part of the whole fun package of getting a puppy or new dog that isn't already registered.

I thought it'd be interesting to see some of the names people have picked for their pets and why!

I currently have:

Railryder's Wak'n The Naybors,,,who is my beagle. The wak'n the naybors part is self explanatory with that beagle bark they have! However his call name is Jeep! I wanted to name him Railryder's All Terrian but my fiance didn't think it fit him. Little did he know the dog would raid trash cans, counter tops, table tops etc for food! He IS an all terrain vehicle in his own right!

Railryder's Seriously Silly is my cocker spaniel. Because, well cockers are majorily silly in their actions! His call name is Louie, or Ouija,,he answers to both.

Railryder's Autumn Spice CD, CGC is my daughters dog, my oldest english springer spaniel. We got her in the fall, and she brought some spice to my then 9 yr olds life after the loss of her other puppy. Her call name is Sienna

Railryder's Elite Marksman CGC is my 1 yr old springer. I had been picking names for my next puppy, not knowing I was soon to lose my male I had at the time, and decided that I loved the name Sniper for a pup. Not a month after I picked the name I lost my male. When I went to look at pups I was floored to find out that Sniper's mom's name was Calamity Jane, his father was Trigger and his Uncle was Shooter! It was like fate said this pup was meant to be mine, he already had a family tradition of "gunslinger" names!

I've also had a Lady's Valiant Sir Dundee, and a Sunday's Fairlady Jessica, and a Railryder's Vagabond Girl. Dundee is my male that passed last year, and Vagabond Girl was the pup we had to had put to sleep due to health issues. Fairlady Jessica now lives with my ex husband.

What are some of yours?

Jazz is Liberty's Surfer Girl. The litter theme was beach boy songs. I wated Problem Child but the breeder said no. LOL :p

Emma will be (Incert My Kennel Name) And Then There's Emma. She's allways the odd one out. Be it a bunch of show dogs and Emma or a bunch of dobes and Emma.

lol @ Problem Child!

Ozzy, when I have him registered will be CharlieDog's Bat Outta Hell, call name Ozzy

Eventually, I want to get an Australian Shepherd female and name her (kennel name or CharlieDog's) Hell Hath No Fury and have her call name be Scorn.

Jett, I'm still trying to think up a neat registered name for her that corresponds to Jett.

How about something like <charliedog's> Black Heart.......(as in Joan Jett and the Black hearts)

HAH! I love you. :D

I was thinking something along the lines of CharlieDog's Rockn Roller, but that's a bit, well, dumb.

But that is brilliant! :D:D

And she's almost completely black, so PERFECT!

Again, I <3 you! :D

It was alway a big decision with me ! Bubba's litter arrived during the NCAA finals so they all were nick named after the final eight at the moment . Hawthorn Hill's Cream n' Crimson . ( Indiana University ...my passion ! ) Tom was into fly fishing and wanted to go that theme with another litter ....I refused Rat Faced McDougall ....so it was Bushwhacker . My Mom helped me buy a female and her initials were I.B. .... thus I.B. Nice . Other were named after dams/sires or colors ....Copper Penny ... ( Penny ) , Copper fox ( daughter , Copper ) etc etc . My first Golden "Point" was pre-named by his breeder .... a well know Conn. line of the 40s .

My male Harlequin Great Dane, Rio's registered name is Heaven's Majestic Rio Grande'

Although, the name I picked makes it sounds as though he was actually named after the Rio Grande'.... I actually picked his call name first, and I was thinking either Rio or Pilot. I picked Rio, like the Pilot of a jet has a Rio, you know. I thought that was kinda' cute!

I'm boring. Not that Meg is AKC registered, but her formal name is Random Rescue Meg. Because she's Meg, and Random Rescue is the rescue that found her for me.

What can I say. Tristan's show name is Tristan. lol
