I agree, Renee. Times were sure different back then. Nowadays, it's so scary. What people did in the 70's was tame to the crap they're into now. It used to be recreational. Now it's life wrecking. Times have-a-changed...

I'm glad to hear the words of wisdom of Renee and EliN....Things are different today from what I've read and have been told. Stay safe....stay sane !! There are too many people out there who want you to get "hooked" and then pay through the nose to pay for their addictions .It's not worth it in the long run. I can't fathom what some have to pay today to get their "fix".! More in a day what I get a month ! All this leads to crime. Just never start !

A couple of years ago, my sis and her husband got a call from a neighbor: "Do you guys know what's growing in the far quarter?" They were MORTIFIED!!! both had grown up very well behaved, and lived by the book. They immediately called the cops, and informed them. The cops came out, took a look, said some kids had probably sown it there for personal use years before, but since it had been growing wild for so long, it would have no "smoking quality"! They also said that they probably would never get rid of it completely, as they produce sooo many seeds.
Years ago, in hair school, my roomates boyfriend used to grow it. We lived behind McDonald's. I gained 35 lbs. That's my story.

I shouldnt even tell this but when I was a teen I'd write stupid poems. I wrote one once about a man planting flowers near a tower and they were stolen. I was just having fun, the poem had no real meaning. Well a couple of years later I was dating this guy who was still big into smoking and he planted his own most the time. I let him read some of my better poems, that was one of them. He got all serious, looked at me and said "DID YOU STEEL THEM?". I didnt know what he was talking about. Turned out, he had planted some next to tower out in the country one year and they had gotten stolen! I dont think he ever believed me when I told him I just made the crap up, I was just having fun.

LOL! OMG, did he smoke before he asked you that, or was he completely serious? Of course, I know people that smoked so much in college that they act like they are permanently high. I was the one who just liked to hang out and watch people (and maybe have a few beers or margaritas). My high was telling people the dumb stuff they said or did the next day.

That's what was so funny about it, he really did think I was the one who stole his plants. This poem was actually suppose to be kind of sad, it was a old man planted flowers, planted near a tower, (I forget what the next line was but it had to do with him going outside and finding his flowers had been stolen), he drops his head, cries out loud and slowly passed away.
So it was actually suppose to be a touching poem, only I guess it sounded to much to him to be like the day he discovered his plants were missing! I honestly dont think he has ever believed I didnt take his stupid plants, I was happy with my beer thank you!
He never did give the stuff up. Think his brain cells are totally messed up now.

It certainly isn't the path to sanity !!!! I'm not a purist, but really worry about the "hooking" drugs and the date rape drugs.
